R50/53 Am I the only one
I actually think it looks good. Especially in the combo pictured here. I didn't find it any "cheaper" feeling than our 06....maybe a bit more restrained and mainstream looking, but still one of the best interiors you'll find in a new car, IMO. I could definitely live with it, if we hadn't already gotton our R53.
I drove an R56 'S'. Although I don't like any of the visual changes on this car, it functioned well, and the interior did not look cheap to me, just different. I believe what bugs me most about the interior is the loss of 'intimacy.' Some may see this as a benefit (it's slightly bigger with a little more room), but my R50 reminds me more of being in an MGB or Midget, or some such. The R56 reminds me of being in a Sentra/Corrolla, etc., huge center speedo not withstanding. My preference is the sports car interior aura.
Yes, the seats were very comfortable.

Trying hard to like.
I also agree the R56 interior looks REALLY cheap and resembles American interior plastics. To me, this is evident in the fact there is too much silver plastic. It look terrible. Every day I pat myself on the back that I ordered the Anthricite dash to match my Tarten red interior. I do like the new option of choosing dash/door "coloring" on the R56 , but your still stuck with a mostly silver dash.
There are many things I like about the R56 and I plan to get the Clubman sometime in '09, but I will cherish my R50 until the day I die. I own a present day classic and I'm proud. Cheers!
