I got to go see a rough cut screening of the new Italian Job movie last night! It was awesome! The story was very exciting (different enough from the first movie to be interesting) and the MINI scenes were great! I only wish my MINI sounded and looked as cool as the ones in the movie. A classic Mini (a 90's Rover 1.3i) makes an appearance in the first part of the movie as well. Yeah MINIs!

When it comes out, go see it. You will not be disappointed!

One sidenote: italianjobmovie.com says the used 32 MINIs to shoot the movie!

 

Imagine you owned a Mini Cooper or an S back in the day when the original "The Italian Job" movie came out. What a blast that would've been...and how great it would be to reminisce! I know now we're in the era of product placement, but this movie is a little different because the use of MINIs is true to the original film. Let's enjoy riding the wave of excitement for this new movie...we can tell our grandchildren about it someday years from now: (old codger voice...) "Yes, young lady, I actually drove one of those cars when that movie came out...yes, actually drove it right out of a storm pipe...(add other personal embellishments as appropriate.)

PS - was told by the people who marketed the MINI for the Film that the number 32 was inaccurate.... it was closer to 50. So anyone who was waiting for either a red s. indiblue or pepper white, was outta luck for a while.... and that is where your car went.
