Now it's time to blow up stuff. Hey it's legal in Hawaii after 9pm.
The island gets covered in thick grey smoke- it's like smelly fog.
Super heavy in residential areas and even on some stretches of the freeway. Mostly happens at New Years and a little on the Fourth of July.

My daughter called to wish us a happy new year at her midnight.... nine hours ago. She's celebrating with the in-laws in Russia. New Year's is THE big holiday there so it's quite the celebration, presents and everything.

Hope you and your families are safe and starting the new year well.
We had a little less heavy smoke with the traditional fireworks (formerly people did it to scare away evil spirits for the new year but now it's just another commercial sales day for businesses).

20 states, including Hawai'i, allow nearly all consumer fireworks.
6 states ban all fireworks.
6 other states ban all fireworks except sparklers and small novelties.
18 states allow for "safe and sane" play of nonaerials.
