clutch vibration?

I picked up my MCS about 6 weeks ago. The last two days, I've felt that when I'm letting the clutch out after shifting gears, it feels a little strange. Not really a vibration, but just not completely smooth feeling when coming back up. I can't really describe it very well.

It also feels like I have to give it more gas to get out of first than I used to, but perhaps I'm just having an off couple of days of shifting. I know how to drive a manual, but I haven't driven one as an every day driver for a long time.

I don't know if this is something that I just wasn't noticing at first or if it is new. Or if I'm just imagining something.

Any thoughts if this could be a clutch problem? Should I have the dealer take a look? I'm not sure I'll be able to describe the problem to the dealer or have them replicate it. I have no problems pushing the clutch in or out and no problems shifting. Just that the clutch coming back up feels a little strange.

Go with your inital feeling about the clutch, take it to the dealer and let em ck it out. If you can't descibe the problem, take one of the mechanics for a drive with you driving and then let him drive to see if he can emulate it. It's sort of like knowing your body, when it gets sick...you know it, even if a doc can't find anything wrong. I can't mechanic at all, but I can tell when something is wrong with a car that I'm driving. It might be the newness of the clutch, but I would still take it in. If nothing else, to ease your mind and to get it fixed under warrenty.

thanks dix... you make a good point, and even if they can't feel the problem, they can at least take a look. Also, if something goes wrong in the future, I will feel somewhat covered in terms of having brought it up before.

i took my car in a few weeks ago and the tech drove it with me as a passenger. he said he didn't feel anything strange or unusual, so i figured i wouldn't worry. (he's been working on MINIs for 3 years and BMWs before that).

today, when i was letting the clutch out from a stop (in first gear) I heard a strange screech. then it was fine as I continued to other gears. next time I stopped, i heard it again... then it stopped completely and hasn't happened again. either that or someone next to me had the screeching sound coming from their car, but i could swear it was coming from my car.

i will be attentive the next few days and see if I hear it again.

anyone else ever hear this kind of sound?

i think since I haven't driven a clutch regularly as a daily driver i must be going bonkers listening/waiting for problems, when just as likely there is nothing wrong.
