I'm flattered, but...

I was not asked for permission to use my MINI in this eBay ad: Link

I guess I can't be mad, since I post photos online all the time, but I REALLY hope no one else wants pink stripes. One in the US and one in Canada is enough.

NOTE: I did NOT purchase my graphics from that Australian dude. They were MY idea, brought to life by Mike at Aesthetic Creations.

At least they fuzzed out your license plate and waited until your head was turned. You don't need ANOTHER picture of you with black tape over your eyes.
That said, it cracks me up that they take a pic of your car (and you) without a model release, THEN put a watermark on the picture!:impatient

The thing is his ad is misleading, thats why I forwarded it to you when I saw it... He is trying to sell a product and is making people believe the product they are looking at (yours, thanks to Mike at AC) is made by him when in reality his product might not be up to par.

Its like selling Pepsi in Coke bottles... close but no cigar!

JJ, if that is your pic ... Ppl on eBay do that all the time and they will never learn if you dont do something about it.

Email the seller and abuse@ebay.com

Point to your original pic online. You OWN the copyright and they are using it for commercial gain.

People have complained to ebay before and the pic removed.

This is becoming more and more common as ppl on myspace are doing it to and its really irritiating the photographers

That's what upsets me. He doesn't deserve credit for my creativity or Mike's execution.

Chowsie, I know that is my MINI, but I can't be sure where the photo came from. It has been messed with. The background is totally unfamiliar to me. I don't care about the photo so much as misrepresenting the he was somehow involved with my graphics.

Yeah, if it was Mike it would be no issue at all and he can make your MINI famous haha. But since its not this guys product, and he even watermarked the pic like someone stated already. Technically he stole this from you, a watermark is made to give credit to the person whose product or picture it is and cannot be removed without destroying the picture. He never asked you if he could use it and he is now proffiting of of it. I say dont let him use it. What he needs to do is sell some stripes to local MINIs for half price and free install, take some pics and put those in his ad.

He photochopped the background. Unless HE took the pic, it means nothing if you took the pic.

Misrepresented the graphics is FRAUD .....

Email Ebay abuse ... do it ... for everyone else's sake

While you're at it, go to the auction, click the "ask the seller a question" link, and ask him about it. The asked question and their reply will show up lower on the auction page so everyone who sees the auction will be appraised of the situation.

Why did you steal that picture of the black car with pink strips. I know the lady who owns that car and you didn't do it. And you didn't ask if you could use that picture. So whats the deal? Don't you know thats Fraud and people can SUE you.

Thats the question i just sent him.

:impatient So eBay emailed me back and said that email address (abuse@ebay.com) doesn't work anymore. I went through their whole forms system, and ultimately it won't let me email them anything unless I sign in. Well, I have account, but when I tried to buy something last month and couldn't remember my log-in or pw, eBay repeatedly ignored my requests to send me that info.

Sooooo, I can't log-in and I refuse to make another account because if eBay is going to be that much of a PITA to deal with then I don't want an account. *sigh* How much can I get screwed in one day?

I guess those of you eBay users who feel like complaining to the seller can be my white knights.

Message sent to the seller. I notice that none of the "ask the seller' stuff is on the ad yet. Are commercial sellers exempt from this?

The question and reply might not be posted if they don't reply to it. Not too sure how that works. I would think the question should at least be posted though there may be some time delay in doing it.
