Just got my issue of road & track for may. In it, they show pics of the new MINI Cooper Cabrio, and say that the launch will come later this year. I have seen pics posted on it here on MCO, (the one with the ugly antenna in the front and the square top back end of the convertible top). Personaly I think that the MINI should just stay as a MINI and they shouldnt change it to that piece of crap. I think it makes it look to much like the VW Bug. What do you all think, and if you have any pics, (I can't figure it out) please post them to show everyone else.

I agree - why screw with a good thing. I do however, like the Photoshop of the MINI Roadster, at least from the one right, front angle they gave.

I don't think those pics were photoshopped. If I'm thinking of the right one, the cabriolet in the snow?

I've seen the whole picture series where that one came from. there's pics of the new 5 series, 3 series, and the x3 in there.

Well - I guess I'll be one of the only one's motoring around in the Cabrio since not too many like the looks of it

But that's okay - to each their own - I love rag tops!

They do have a pic of the cabrio in the snow, and the other one is a red one with the top down.

There is talk of a speedster version that will look a little more inviting to those not so turned on by the cabrio...saw pics once, now can't find 'em/

See if you can find those pics, because I have never heard of that, and would really like to see what it is.

I've had tons of stuff at my site about the Cabrio over the past several months:

MINI Cabrio Video

Yes Virginia... there will be an MCS Cabrio

MINI Cabrio Information (MINI Open?)

The New New MINI

The top pic is one of the two in the magazine, and I do like the speedster, I think it looks nice. When is the cabrio exactly coming out?

Gabe, I'd forgotten how nice your site is!

Looking good, love the photo used as the header.

Looks like quite the MINI/mini rodeo!

The top pic is from an original PR pic from MINI that's been photoshopped. That being said it's probably pretty close to how the real thing will look.

The Cabrio will most likely come out next Summer worldwide.

Thanks smokey4! The top header on my site changes daily (from a collection of about 50) so you rarely see the same one twice. That particular one is from the International MINI Meet in Milwaukee last September. Wait until you see tomorrow's

Definitely a case of "to each her/his own". The little roof cap is most of what gives the MINI the look I fell in love with. Without it, the car looks quite pedestrian in comparison. I'd never give up my car's little lid. The sunroof is enough air for me!

A longer/wider/taller MINI with a bigger boot??? What on earth's the point?

My verdict is still out on the Cabrio. Can't say as though I like it with the top up--actually, top up I think it's down right icky, if we're being honest. But top down.... hmmmmmmmm.... now that I could get used to. And I do love me a ragtop. The speedster could get me a mite jealous, but then I'm with fms on the matter of the "lid".

Not like it matters, I won't be buying a new car anytime soon. (multiple new windscreens, but not a whole new car... )

I have to chime in too...

I don't care for the "look" of the cabri-- and my current car is a much loved 91 VW Cabriolet, so I'm definitely not anti-ragtop...

It might be that I'm currently so in love with the lines of the MINI that it looks *wrong* any other way...

To each his own, as they say, as long as you motor, who's to say which way's right????
