I got the MINI S for my wife so she would stop asking to drive my M3. I made sure it was a stick so I could take it out.

I agree w/ Dr Obnxs who wrote "anyone who asks (that I know) can have the keys to my car. They break it they fix it..."

I let the "girl i was dating" drive my new MCS with about 75 miles on it. (I believe "brand new MINI" is on the list of proven aphrodisiacs!) I loved it when she said, "these kinds of cars... shouldn't be allowed on the road". She has never wanted to drive it since. (score one for generosity, score one for never having to do it again!)

Oh now Wait A Minute! Guys - we gonna take this?
he was trying to be a badass and do something all fast and bad-***-like, like most guys do
Would you have posted that if he wasn't so pretty?

(We need a smiley emoticon with a tongue in cheek - I thought this whole thread was funny!)

My wife not only drives "my" mini, she can change and rotate tires, check and change oil, and this morning used "my" mini to jumpstart one of her girlfriend's minivans (kids left an interior light on). I love a good, sturdy woman!

Oh - AND she's petite and very pretty too!

Heck, if more than one of my fun cars is running at one time, I'll let a friend drive whatever they want, we'll go through the hills, and trade back and forth! It's a trip going from a tight FWD to a looser 65 convertable with over 300 HP and tons of torque!

Matt
Im with the DOC. If someone I know asks me to drive the MINI, I will first Ask if they know stick. Than If they do, and they're not idiots, Ill let them drive it. But if they happen to have a sweet ride of their own, then we drive eachothers cars to have fun. With the power of the MINI, Ive been able to drive:WRX STi, Supercharged M3, Carrera 4, Hummer Alpha. and others.

Well my wife drove my MINI right after I got home with it. And you guessed it, now she is going to order her own in a few months. So I am not to bad it has only been 10 day since I got it. She wants a convertible though.
Happy Motoring

It's extremely hard for me to hand over the keys (I've put on 98.5% of the miles) but I know the car well and am always more than willing to take someone along for a little spritied demonstration when conditions permit, I've found it a great way to share the motoring experiance without having to cringe. I've had basically two reponses the "Ohhh I want one!" or the "I think I'm gonna hur-!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" with slight variations of course and it is honestly about a 50/50 spilt.

And to stay on topic anytime I've had a lady in the car I've been a perfect gentleman and drove in a manner in which she knew her safety was my first and foremost concern

She has a hard enough time with an automatic and I dont feel like replacing a clutch Right now. MAybe if she asks nicely one day ill teach her haha

I got really lucky and found a great guy that is also a MINI owner. So I don't really have to worry about him taking mine cuz he has his own.

Although if he didn't have a MINI, I'd probably let him "borrow" mine occasionally. I trust him enough.

I have not only let others drive my MCS around the block so to speak, but road trips as well. Of course I was in the MINI on the road trips, but zip around for 300/400 miles really lets them know the pleasure of driving one.

She is very pretty! If a female with eyes that blue asked to drive my car, it'd be difficult to deny her! ; )

My wife and I do swap cars occasionally. But I do hate the different settings to the AC, radio, etc., it comes back with. Plus she rides the clutch.

I've let my boyfriend drive mine a few times, usually when we come home from parties. Sometimes when we are going out to dinner or somewhere fancy (especially if I'm wearing high heels ). He gets antsy when I'm driving because I drive too fast thru the corners . He just doesn't drive the MINI the way it wants to be driven!

I've also let my Dad drive it mostly because I'm trying to convince him and my Mom to get one for the retirement fun car. Mom hasn't driven stick in a while so she was afraid to, but I'll get her to eventually. I'll try to convert my sister at some point too, but I'm waiting for her to get some practice in on someone else's clutch first .

I'm still in the protective new mother phase after two months, but I'm sure as time goes on more of my friends will get to take a test drive.

My girlfreind doesn't get to drive my MINI. I have offered, but she thinks I cringe in the right seat too much, and she doesn't want the stress.

I did let my dad share my MCS @ a BMWCCA driving school @ Willow Springs. He loved it and didn't thrash too much on it. I say too much, cuz the 1st thing he did when I let him take it for a spin, was he revved it to about 3.5k, dropped the clutch and jumped off the line like a bat outta hell, then he proceded to SPEED-SHIFT the MCS to red line from 1st all the way thru 5th. I won't say where we were or what the speedo said, but he is a lawyer and knows the judges in the area we were. Sometimes that 60 year old hippie still has ways to surprise me after all these years

If it were any other person I probably would have BEATEN the crap out of them, but cuz my dad was so instrumental in my purchase of my MCS, and considering all of the crap I had done to cars in my teen years, I let him off with a warning

I'm rather sickened by this thread. I'm not one of those hardcore feminists at all but I just don't see why there's so much emphasis on your SO's appearance. It seems to me like you're just with her so you can show her off...? Kinda shallow.

I know this thread talks about girlfriends driving... but seems like it doesn't matter...
I have let my boyfriend drive my MINI twice... once in a parking lot, the other down a cul-de-sac type road. He behaves badly with it and by bad, I mean obnoxious... he likes the idea of driving a standard.

After 13 years of driving my wife still can not do gears. She has designated herself "princess of the passenger seat." Mind you I am willing to teach her, but she has not interest.

I had to force my wife to drive it the first time, it had been a few years since she had driven a stick and she was very uncomfortable. We found a large parking lot, let her drive it around 1st thru 3rd and she's been happy ever since. Whenever we're both home and she's going out, she usually asks, "Mind if I take Bean?". I don't mind and she enjoys it much more than her Mom car.

My hubby bought me my mini a couple months ago. He insisted it be the S so I said sure, even though I couldn't drive stick and was not thrilled with the idea of him teaching me.
Still can't drive stick very well and the hubby has pretty much inherited my new car....
