I went to Motor City Mini today, took an MCS for a test drive and ordered myself a ly/b MCS! I was told the final order won't go in until about August with a late September delivery date. This fits my schedule just fine.

Dave mentioned that they expect a surge in orders when the movie "The Italian Job" comes out.

I took the S onto the highway and was amazed at how quickly I was up to 90mph. I also was expecting a harsher ride after reading reviews. I was actually a smoother ride than my wifes 95 Celica and my 85 Bertone.

My choice for colors was completely up in the air. Both silvers are just Beautiful but I was looking for a fun, playful color. There were no EBs on the lot. Inside were ps/b, vr/w, and ly/b mini coopers. Velvet red is also a great color, but...no MCS.
Outside was a ib/w, cr/w, sg/b and a vr/w with very interesting small checkered viper type stripes, all mini coopers, no MCS's other than the test vehicle and the owners DS.

What I finally ended up ordering was ly/b with black leatherette interior, Premium Combo #1 and Cold Weather combo #3 and all of the Sport package except the 17" wheels. Instead I got the 16" V-Spoke. Oh yeah, The Harmon Kardon Stereo and black bonnett stripes. I backed out on the driving lights at the last minute, just couldn't see paying over $800 for (in my case) a cosmetic option.
Unless I change my mind on colors between now and when the order gets submitted, It looks like I'll be getting myself a bumblebee!

Glad to hear that you will be joining the MINI motorers group. Good luck with the MINI. I have myself a Chili Red "S" with a white roof, and I didn't know if I was going to like it or not but it grew on me. I didn't have a chice, because if I would have ordered it would have taken me 6 more months, so I ended up taking it off the lot, and had myself the 8th "S" in the state. I have nearly 18,000 (enjoyable) miles, and I know you will to. LET'S MOTOR!

Congrats markcmini on your decision...sounds great. The wait is the hardest part, but it sounds like you're ready for that. Oh and welcome to MCO too...
