R50/53 Factory Alarm: Picture of Flashing LED Stalk
Here's a picture I took yesterday at Schomp MINI here in Denver. The red portion of the stalk contains a flashing LED when the Alarm is activeated (very similar to the one on the lower portion of the rear view mirror on the BMW's).

Factory Alarm: $450

Factory Alarm: $450
It was a factory installed option for about a month of the build. Then it was deleted by the factory. It will soon be a dealer installed option. All cars (except the pre-specs) are prewired for the alarm. So now the dealer gets to make $$$ of the alarm instead of MINI.
i got my mini on july 16th first one in us (or so i was told) with the factory installed alarm.... it looks exactly like the picture... it's a motion sensor alarm.... and it cost $450 extra.... well worth it not to go through the hassle of having an outside co put it in in my opinion!!!
oh,
this is a very nice alarm system--especially when the LED is mounted on the stalk like that. unfortunately for my, my cooper s is a prespec version and therefore, cannot use this alarm system. too bad. on the other hand, i can still motor without the factory alarm. so keep on motoring!!!!
