So their site (www.johncooperworks.co.uk) states that the kit for the MCS will be available world wide on April 2nd in authorized MINI dealerships. Called mine (Prestige) they sayd May. Anyone's dealer has them yet?

Automobile mag was saying 2k to 3k for the retrofit. dunno how accurate that is. I bet they'll get you on the installation though

When I ordered my Cooper S in March, they told me the kit would be available for around $8000! They also said that the dealers would only be allotted a certain amount. This was Mini of St. Louis. Good luck.

Availability: I'll believe it when I see it installed on a customer's MINI in the U.S.

Price: I'll believe it when I see someone post the actual cost they were charged.

Labor: I'll believe the cost / time when someone posts what they paid their dealership to install it.

HP Claims: I'll believe it when someone independently dynos the JCW kit.

I've seen $4500 floating around on several websites but nothing from my dealer either. At 4500 I'd probably do it 8k, forget it.

hello all,

including labor, i think it'll be $6000. but i'm going to wait for Dinan before i decide because they have a warranty package for their tuning packages anyway.

Hmmm...i read in some magazine (forgot the name) that it will be from $3000-$4000 and that it will do 0-60 in 6.2. But i guess we will not know anything until it comes out.

$4500... $8000.... $3000-$4000....

As I said earlier, I'll believe it when I see it.

i know the service manager in orlando is trying to get them to release it in pieces so people can do one piece at a time to save money. he thought it would run $5k parts and labor in o-town. i hope he succeeds cuz then i can have him do some of the more "warranty" intensive pieces and do other stuff myself

Speculating about JCW is like competing in the special olympics...

dgszweda Apr 8, 2003 04:52 AM

I agree with DiD. So much speculation and hype. One thing I would like to see would be the ability to purchase the JCW Supercharger separately. I think the combination of the pulley and the beefed up Supercharger, would really be great. I am not sure what the long term affects are on the 15% reduction pulley on the stock supercharger. I am also curious why JCW changed the supercharger. I know that they cleaned up the flow in the SC and upgraded the vanes to ceramic to handle the increased heat. Does anyone have anymore information on this?
