Got My New S What A Change
Picked up my 2006 MCS PW from Hank Aaron this afternoon. They were great, very helpful.
What a difference between this and my old MCC. Can't wait to get it out of the break in period and see what it will really do. It is night and day.
Any S people what does changing the pulley do? They talked like they did not have a problem with doing that. Also I've seen different types what would you all recomend.

Congrats on the new S!
Check out the drivetrain mod forum.
Here is my simplistic explaination. Other experts may say different.
Basically there are two pulleys. One is an undersized supercharger pulley, 15%, 16%, 17%, and 19%.
The other is an oversized (and lightened) crank pulley, 2%. The supercharger pulley basically spins
the SC faster with minimal affect on other items. The crank pulley makes the belt run faster also
spins the SC faster, but will affect othe items driven by the belt.
You may be able to combine both pulleys for added performance. A 2% crank pulley paired with a
15% SC pulley is like a 17% SC pulley only.

Hey, Congrats !!!! I too have upgraded to a Cooper S. It is a real difference. This is definitely not bragging, but I have gotten 2 speeding tickets within a month of each other. The first one was blatantly my fault, and the second one was just not paying attention. I am really watching myself now. I miss my Cooper now.
Congrats!!
btw, both the crank pulley & the supercharger pulley have an effect on other accessories... They are both smaller in size, therefore they spins the belts "more rounds per cycles"...

I've stuck with the stock stuff, mostly. I don't really want to add power. One of the fun things about the S is that you can use what it can do. I have a Saab Aero and almost never use the Sort button because it already goes faster than I can get away with.
I talked to a guy with a vette today. He said he had it up to 187 once . . .in West Texas . . . I can get the MINI smoking in town.
The BMW engineers aren't bad . . . balanced.

Umm DarkMCS, maybe I'm just being a little slow, but doesn't changing the SC pulley not affect the speed of the other components unless you change the whole belt? The output rpm is the same, and the extra length created by the smaller SC pulley just goes into a tensioner, doesnt it? Correct me if I'm wrong.
Congrats on the MCS mozzarella! You are a lucky man!

A smaller diameter pulley will spin faster than a larger pulley on a belt moving at the same speed. Think of wheel and tire sizes: smaller wheels will have to spin faster to maintain a certain speed, a larger wheels, not as fast.

Congrats on your new S! A crank pulley will spin everything faster, a supercharger pulley will only effect the speed of the supercharger... The 15% is a great upgrade for improved power across the board!
Just my 2 pennies...
