What's a good price for a 2003 MCS with Leather?

I found one with Leather and sport edition for about $18000. Is that a good price? It is a dark grey color with white top and white bonnet stripes. Do you like the white stripes or is it better with a solid color?

Also, which holds their value more the standard or type S Mini Cooper?

Thank you! Hopefully I can be a mini cooper owner soon!

Oh, and if i don't like the bonnet stripes, can i peel it off?

Mileage would be the deciding factor on this one.

But yes, you can definitely peel the stripes right off!

Hi, srfrman7! I agree with Yucca, that price may be good depending on the miles. The white bonnet stripes look very sharp on the Dark Silver/White MCS. Both the Cooper and Cooper S retain a very high resale value. The S is a higher-performance vehicle. Let us know what you buy! Good luck with it!

I prefer the top and stripes because I value the heritage to the original over style.....The greatest looking style IMO is the dark silver with black top and tinted windows...SMOOTH.....you can browse the gallery and find anything you want......but your style is what YOU like best.

18k is about the average price for an 03 MCS......if you find one you like, check back in and give us the details and we will let you know if it is a rip or not......there are many many great people and tons and tons of knowledge about these cars we love to share so just ask

There are 40K miles and it has the HK sound system. What do you think about that? Thank you for your help so far :)

Where do you live? If you live in Portland, OR for example, that would be a great deal. If you live in Bangor, Maine, then not as good of a deal. What are similar cars going for in your area?

You can find out the Kelly Blue Book value at http://kbb.com

Here's an example. I bought my 03' MCS 4 months ago from a private party fully loaded minus Nav and HK system with 47k miles on it. Immaculate condition, with fresh tires and brakes at 36k for $17k. I personally considered this a GREAT deal and jumped on it.

So, since this car has 40K miles and new brakes and tires. If i can get it for $17.8, should i take it?

flannelhippie Aug 25, 2006 07:56 PM

I would. In my area there is no way that you would find any MCS for less than 20K
