I have been thinking about either the "S" chrome side grills on my MC, ($25 at mossmini, normally $89.95), or maybe these at $19.95.

For some reason I think they might also look cheap, besides being cheap.

What do you think?

I've seen these mesh ones and they do look really cheap. I think they are made by the same factory that does the flame style grilles. But S grilles on a MC doesn't look quite right either.

For my wife's Cooper, we found a great deal on the shark fin style grilles. I didn't think they would look good but my dear wife insisted and she was right that they would look great.

This is the best photo I have immediately available, but they do look great.

I think a chrome grill might look good, but the slatted one's I've seen also have chrome mesh behind the slats and that, imo, looks very cheap. The right idea is to do it as they've done w/ the MCS grill.....chrome slats w/ black mesh. I've only seen one aftermarket slatted grill that I liked a lot.

Here's a pic...

*edit* the item I'm seeing at this web site indicates "chrome vent stripes", and that may just be a clever and reasonable means of dressing up a stock vent.

Yucca Patrol,

I like the ones you have, but the cheapest I have found them is $99 pair. A bit steep I think.

I too have wondered if I want the "S" grills on my MC, although the red "S" on them would look good on my CR/W MC, and my last name starts with "S". I could call them monograms.

Yes, $99 is a bit much. We bought them on sale for $49 last fall. I can't remember which place had them for that price, but I think it was MINI Mania that had them.

I don't think it's "proper" to put an MCS grill on a Cooper...my opinion. Once can to as one pleases, of course, but in the end I don't think it's a decision that will stand the test of time.

If I found a quality grill that I really, really loved, I'd probably spend $250 or more for a pair. It is, after all, a very high-visiblity accessory. Otherwise, OEM is at least "proper" for the car.

I pretty much agree....although, after a parking lot incident caused me to replace one of my side sills, I replaced them both with "S" ones because I thought they looked better.

I really don't want to look as if I'm trying to clone an "S", but still, I like the MCS side grills.....especially for $25 a pair, I'll decide by tomorrow.

Thanks for your input.

I agree w/ you, Yucca, but I have seen these on tons on MINIs, especially in the UK. Apparently they are quite a popular alternative.
