I hate the power windows on my MINI!
Anybody else have this problem..... Today I get in the car and hit the power window switch and nothing. Drivers or passenger window does not work.
I move the switch on the pass. side oh about 20 times and it works finally. I move the drives side about 50 times and nothing. I hear the relays and all working but the window does not work.(By this time Im ready to rip the switch out.)
I drove about 20 miles moving the switch and nothing.(Went to the parents house for luch.) I get 100 yards from my house and it works. What gives.
Its done this in the past, but I would only have to toggle the switch a few times and it would work. It was very odd that BOTH windows went out this time.

Try the dealer first. Classic in Mentor replaced my driver's side motor under warranty with no discussion. And I'm the second owner. I did notice the window failed to work on hot days. There's a thread on here somewhere about the window motors.

Last night I came out of the movie theater (Woody Allen's Scoop--a must see!) and the passenger window would not go down. Playing with the toggle switch doesn't help. I checked both of the window fuses (just in case I was looking at the wrong one) and they are fine. I've got an 03 MCS with 56K miles...first window problem with it.
Mine's a 2002. The window motor was replaced at the 25,000 mile service inspection last winter. Now I'm up to 34,500 miles and everything is still working.
I believe the window motor problem is rooted in the way the windows drop and rise when the door is opened. A nice feature to seal the windows, but everytime you open a door that motor does a little 1/4" move. You'd think after a period of time it would wear out in that start spot. Just a thought.

Sorry, they never told me that. In that situation I'd order one from the dealer, pick it up, and learn how to open up a door and install it. I did a short search for a window motor with no luck. So, I can't help with price or seller. Hmmm. What good am I?
Just try the old proven method:
Click the switch to make the window move while at the same time giving a good thump to the door panel, right below the handle you use to open it.
This'll jog the motor free and it'll work - for a while. Days? Weeks? A while, at least.

Similar to what GBMINI said, this thread may help...

So, does anyone have a "how to" on replacing this motor? I took off the panel, and 3 screws hold the motor to the door frame, but I can't figure out what else needs to be done. It still won't come loose. :(
