I've been considering the purchase of the Hamann HM 4 17" wheels for my MCS. The only reason I'm stuck on these is because I like the deep dish look and I wanted to keep my Dunlop run flats since they only have 2500 miles on them. I keep hearing about how hard the car drives and how part of this is caused by the run flats themselves. Are there any other wheels out there that have that deep dish look and if I purchase new, non run flat, tires how do you keep a spare in the boot?

forget the spare.....keep a cell phone and fix-a-flat! :grin:

If you're not worried about weight, the Hamann's look great! As for the non-run-flat issue, keep a can of "fix-a-flat" with you in the trunk, and pray you don't get a blowout or big puncture!

These are the same wheels that SMG had before getting the new ones. The Hamann's look like they have about a 4" lip around the inside of the wheel.

i had those hamanns for 3 months and i sold them last week....and got the rays ce28n...the hamanns are pretty but they're super heavy compared to other light weight wheels in the market.....and the heavy weight greatly affect your acceleration.

OK, I see. My stock wheels collect most of the brake dust on the outter portion of the wheel. I guess this would make it a little easier to clean :razz:

I'm just wondering how I can get the best of both worlds and get the look of the HM 4 deep lip and also the lighter weight?

I partly blame SMG for my obsession with these Hamann's! Ever since I saw the way they look on his car I don't want anything else!

hehehe.....if you don't mind the weight & cost, get the 18"......they're much nicer than the 17"....but then again.....a few more lbs per wheel than 17"....you'll have to decide.

too bad the 18's are double the price of the 17's! :lol:

I really wanted the Hamanns as well. I've stared at the Hamann MCS for awhile. Still have it as a desktop pic. Wicked awesome. But if they weren't so pricey and heavy (the rims) than I would have went for them. I settled for the Konig Holes, in a 16" size. Not really deep dish, but they have an inset lip, and only weigh in just above 15lbs each for the 16". I've looked around for some reasonable priced somewhat-light weight deep dishers as well. But they are high priced and heavy. It'll be a hard search to do. Some are OK in price and weight. But you'll need an adapter to have it fit your MINI, which will be more weight. Depends on what you want. Looks or performance. Shoehorn an M3 inline-6 in the engine bay, and then maybe 20lb+ wheels won't make that much difference. :grin:
