R50/53 This is weird...any help???
Just two weeks ago I was driving my mcs on a main road going about 75 kph (47 mph) in a temperature of about 2 C (35 F). Up ahead I saw a red light and so i began to downshift (from 4th to 3rd or from 3rd to 2nd). All of a sudden, with my foot of the gas, the car went extremely high in revs and the traction control light came on after the car had "lunged" a bit foward. I slowed down and the TCS light was still on even after I tried to turn it off. The car was making a funnny noise as well almost like a backfire and soon I realised that the check engone light came on. After I turned off the car and back on, the TCS went back to normal but the engine light was still on and the car felt a little strange in power and sound.
I brough the car to the dealer just before he was closing and he checked out the car and said seemed to be alright but that I should bring it in to service the next day. On the way home the engine light turned off and the car was back to normal. The next day the service rep had a look at it and said the the computer recorded no errors so he said it must have been a glicth.
Last week my cousin was driving when the same thing happened. The car is now in for service getting a new computer and apparently new software. I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else or if anyone has info on this?
Also just a warning, if it happens to you pull over right away and let the car rest for five minutes as apparently in this "confused" mode the computer may damage your supercharger.

The traction control system works in reverse as well. That is, if you slam it into a low gear on an icy road and the tires lose traction as a result, the computer will hit the gas as needed to maintain stability.
Somewhere along the line the engine's throttle setting vs. RPM got so out of whack that the emissions systems could not ensure proper, clean combustion. The high emissions trigger the check engine light which stays on for a day or two. Similarly, if you fill your gas tank with the engine running the check engine light will illuminate for a day or two.
With the check engine light on, the engine management computer reverts to a fail-safe mode which limits fuel/spark/rpm/power. This will not damage the supercharger -- the supercharger is just a hunk of steel that spins around -- there's not much to go wrong.
IOW, don't sweat it. Motor on.

thanks for the reply...i was worried because my dealer did not know much about this problem. I guess out of the deal I got a new computer and "new software" which I'm not sure exists yet.
