Rowan Jun 18, 2006 11:10 AM

sweet, anyone else?

yamahogg500 Jun 18, 2006 10:19 PM

I am going on sunday. there is a thread on the st. louis board
about a police escorted parade through downtown Indy
saturday for mini groups. If I can work it out I may attend.
http://2006usgp.theregistrationsystem.coml you willl need to register to particpate in the parade.

Several of us are driving down Friday night from Chicago to Indy.

J-Stylez Jun 19, 2006 08:37 AM

My wife and I will be driving in from Omaha in Wednesday night late and there through the weekend. However, there is a strong possibility that we will be driving the Volvo since she's pregnant and the MINI is not as plush of a ride.

Go Schumi Go and Forze Ferrai!

I'm meeting my buddy in Indy on Friday but sadly we'll both be flying in. That's the bad news, the good news is that we are totally in for the Red Bull hospitality set-up at the track. My friend is part of a food distribution network and asked his RB distributor if we could get access, and bickety-bam, we're in.

Apparently there is a "Kiss and Make up" party going on downtown on Saturday night. It's sponsored by Grand Prix Tours and "the teams", and should be a good time.

If you are happily motoring along and some p-o-s rent-a-car pulls up alongside and gives you a big thumbs up, that would be me.

I'll weigh in with the GO KIMI! team, with a side order of GO ALONSO!, but fear that Parker Schumacher will win on the big day. If ever there was a track built for the Ferrari top speed advantage, Indy is it...

x3 go kimi!

4 of us are leaving wed night.

RenaultF1 Jun 19, 2006 10:53 AM

I'm driving to Montreal for the Canadian GP on Thursday...then back home on Monday and fly out Wednesday to the USGP. Unfortunately no MINI for the USGP ...we'll be in a rental car coming from Wright Patt in Dayton.

And I guess I don't need to weigh in on which team/drivers...

Hartz Jun 19, 2006 11:11 AM

We'll be there, and I'll toss in a sentimental cheer for Coulthard.

DrDiff Jun 19, 2006 11:17 AM

D&R MINI and MINICCI are having a cook out Saturday night. Then if you have a car coral pass, there is the police escort starting at the zoo down town, but you have to register for it. If you are coming down early, your race ticket will get you in for the pit lane walk about on Thursday. GREAT PHOTO opportunity!

IMHO if BMW supplies a second team next season they should brand the engines MINI!

And yes MrsDiff and I will be there with MIB, we are scheduled for the 9:00 escort from the zoo!

yumhaggis Jun 19, 2006 12:01 PM

I went last year  & wanted to go this year to see a real race, but have to work  the life of a constabulary is not his own :sly: I guess I'll have to watch it as I can on TV

Anyone in Corner 6 Terrace?

BSUCardinalfan Jun 19, 2006 01:21 PM

I'm going, but I don't have a MINI (yet.....ordering next month from D&R). Can anyone go to the saturday cookout? We'll be in a BMW, at least!

Go JV!

We'll be there. Flying from Seattle and rental driving. B Penthouse:thumbsup: where Ralf put it into the wall last year...I'm hoping he finds it within his genius to do it again.
Oh, and go Williams.

Car Corral Parking Pass

Does anyone know how to get a Car Corral Parking Pass for our MINI? As all the police escorts are full we'd still like to park in the designated parking lot.

I wouldn't mind getting in on this either.

Contact the IMS ticket office and if you purchased tickets for two seats for the race or two season passes, give them your acount number and tell them you are a member of the MINI car club and they should send you a car carrol pass.

glmini Jun 19, 2006 07:00 PM

The MINI Car Club of Indiana along with Dreyer and Reinbold MINI is hosting a F1 cookout @ 7:00 PM on Saturday at the dealership. If you are intown for the race plan to join us for a MINI Party.

See http://minicci.org/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=277 for more information and map.

yamahogg500 Jun 20, 2006 10:05 AM

Is anyone aware of reasonable and available hotel
rooms for saturday?

DrDiff Jun 21, 2006 11:35 AM

On a race weekend.....

Reasonable??? Within a 50 mile radius of Indy??? Not on a race weekend!

The hotel operators price gouge you more than the SoCal MINI dealers that still demand Additional Dealer Profit and make you pay more than MSRP.

Most places charge MINIMUM $150 per night and have a 3 night minimum stay. :eek2:

Rowan Jun 21, 2006 01:07 PM

Which is why it isn't such a bad idea to spend the night in Chicago!

yamahogg500 Jun 21, 2006 06:47 PM

I do have a plan B. I can ride with some friends in their
giant RV.Im sure with gas being what it is we wont be
saving any money with the drive from St. Louis and back.
