I didn't mean to say it was 'produced with' the kit only that the for the period only the JCW200 kit was available. At the time it was only a dealer installed kit and not available as a factory option.

I should have started earlier on this forum, I already purchased the air intake so not quite as period as I was hoping for. However I am still moving ahead at the moment.

Congratulations on your MC40!

Not sure if I would consider the air intake or the whole 210hp JCW kit not period correct for an MC40 since both JCW kits were dealer add-ons/accessories at the time, and the 210 kit being released in October 2004. Also, a separate JCW 210 update kit which included the intake, injectors, and 210 tune was released for cars with the original JCW 200 kit.

so it begins

The seats are in from another MC40 along with several OEM/NOS items ready for the interior. New stickers are ready, but there are a few nicks and dents, plus the paint is a little rough here and there.

The slave clutch cylinder needs to be replaced, but besides that it is running well as is. My goal is to have in up and fully ready in three months and most of the work will be done by several reputable shops.

But here it is, and so it begins....

Great start.. Let the fun begin ... might as well check everything, fix, repair, and replace... and of course clean, clean, clean.

First thing, replace the cabin air filter, it is the one thing that is always forgotten and will stop that nasty musty smell from making you hang air fresheners all over the car.

Best of Luck.

Motor On!

I believe I found a decent deal. Both ECS and Way Motor Works have a new JCW supercharger for sale at about $1450. In my research and purchasing thus far, I found that the superchargers were the same besides the pully. So, if you need a new supercharger at a used price, buy the JCW then replace the pully with what you want. New for much less.

I did buy the JCW supercharger since I am building a JCW 210 kit (per my posts above) and realized this in my research. Just passing along the info.

Also, I am interested in either buying the way motor works JCW engine with head or the ECS head. Both are 4K, but with one I get a refurb engine. Any pointers or thoughts?

We make the stickers to restore the exterior on the MC40
https://www.waymotorworks.com/mc40-decal-set.html

Hope we can help with anything else as we have restored two MC40s already.

People say it's loud enough to hear the exhaust sound in the cabin. I just want you guys direct opinion :D BTW, I'll be also selling the JCW exhaust once I do the swap. Let me know if anyone's interested. I'll post it separately in the sale anyways.
I would be interested if still available.

@Brenden JCW intake for sale in the first gen parts. Includes cowl panel. Not cheap but would be a great part to have if you are going full JCW 200 or 210.

I am working with the Mini dealer to put together a bunch of the original kit along with looking at ECS, WMW and others. The goal is to have the head, supercharger, exhaust and what not, to original kit spec using original parts. I have also been leveraging realoem and have built a spreadsheet to make sure I have all of the parts. Once I get them installed, the mini delearship will do the 210 flash. Sadly, it will be all real parts but no JCW plaque that says the number...

Update on the MC40 project. The front seats have arrived from WI and are in great shape and took a nice long trip by Greyhound to CA. The backseats are also in and ready to install. Plus the last OEM, NOS toggle switches from Mini have arrived from Germany. This is it in all of BMW so it is nice to have them. More image to come of the process.

The R90s are the standard Wheel for the MC40 and the year correct JCW brakes work just fine.

The R98s are a 17 inch wheel so I can only assume that they have the same offset and the R90.

As for retor-fitting the larger JCW brakes BREMBO of some STOP-TECH, or WILWOOD 4 and 6 piston kits you have to look at each kit. e.g., the one WILWOOD kit will fit behind the 15 inch wheels. Several kits out there.

Best of Luck

Motor On!

R90: Not for vehicles with 17" 4 piston Brembo John Cooper Works Sport Brake. Unless 25mm spacer are used on the fronts to be safe.

Folks, I recently had a tire installer damage one of the wheels from my 2004 MC40. This is the anthracite version specific to this model. I tried having the existing wheel repaired but for some reason, after two tries, the refinisher that is normally very good (had my Jag wheels done there) hasn't been able to exactly match the color. Does anyone on the forum know of a source for a new R90 anthracite wheel? The only online source with availability I can find is Mini of Kennesaw and they want $400 shipped. The tire installer is paying but I would rather not have them raked over the coals on price if I can avoid it. Anyone?

Ah man that stinks, ok, if its comes to R90 wheels we are your guys

No one knows more about these then me And maybe some guys on the forums
So there is the older part number and the newer part number. We can get the older one last time I spoke to MINI corporate, they opened it up for us to get. Which is great. 36116777969

https://www.ecstuning.com/Search/Sit...h/36116777969/ Older BBS casting.

https://www.ecstuning.com/Search/Sit...h/36116768580/ New BBS casting.

The older part most of them still have the BBS stamping on the newer ones the stamping was moved/and sometimes removed from batch to batch. The stamping is one the backside of the wheel on the spoke part, so you dont see it. The paint is the same but they are older so they have a little more aged looks on the finish. You have to look really close.
Call into Sales team and let them know what wheel you want they can try to help you out on price. I cannot adjust pricing myself.

Last time I talked to BBS corporate at SEMA we actually talk about the old R90 MINI wheels and what MINI wheels were BBS and what happened to all the molds. BBS is a great company and those older people in the company remember all the great and cool MINI owners. Nice guys.

I bought one set (4) from the friendly folks at ECS a couple of years ago when they were on sale, what a deal. I am still so delighted with them.

I have a set of Continental Racing Slicks mounted up on the older blemished rims.

Motor On!
