Who is sticky fingers? The decals that I have on my car, appear to be crappy aftermarket stickers. I would like to get a set of replacement stickers. Are the 37 door numbers magnetic or sticker?
Follow up from the MINI Heritage Day at MINI Of Allentown (MOA) Thank you and a very special thank you to Paddy Hopkirk for making the meet and greet so wonderful.
Here is Paddy signing the last of my three MC40s
Here is a great photo of Paddy and David at Watkins Glen ..
<sad face> jumped into #24 this morning to drive it to work and .... looks like an alternator failure parked it and took #211. I'll have to look into #24s issue this evening when I get home.

I just picked up my first mini, and MC40 #297. I need to do some repair and also few things.
I am going to keep it mostly "stock" but will be adding in the JCW pieces to bring it up to the higher HP while still keeping all of the original parts if I ever want to revert back.
My question is, since I am doing this work anyways, should I replace the clutch, starter, water pump, etc. or just wait until they fail? The car does have higher miles, but I am the second owner and the first is a good friend of mine so I know how it was driven.
Definitely check with your friend to determine if the supercharger has ever been serviced (as well as his complete service history). The water pump attaches to the SC and is easy to replace when the SC is off for service. Clutch and starter will definitely let you know when they need replacing. Oil leaks will tell you what else you need to address. I'm of the school "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." but there are seals and o-rings that need replacement from time to time and with "higher miles" I'm sure there may be some things that need refreshing (again dependent on the service history). I've done quite a bit of work on my MC40 and I'm on this forum daily if you have questions specific to your special edition MINI.
I have access to or all of the parts but two, the head and the tail pipe trim. My goal is to also keep all of the original items in case I ever want to revert back. I am only deviating from stock with parts that you could have bought direct from the dealership at the same time as when it was new or shortly thereafter. Basically something that you could see on an MC40 today and it wouldn't be out of place.
Outside of that I will post some before, during and after pictures of the process where it goes from where it currently sits to what it will be.
Sounds like a great plan! Keep in mind that the MC40 was produced with only the JCW200HP kit and not the 210. The 200 kit didn't come with the JCW injectors or intake. It was the JCW ported head, 11% SC pulley reduction, colder plugs, JCW exhaust, JCW200 ECU flash and the badges. They didnt add the injectors or intake until the 05 JCW models.
Not that you can't get the JCW210 kit. Just info so you are period correct (JCW210 flash is custom for the pre-facelift ECU since the ECU was changed also. It can be done by a pro though)
Happy Motoring and enjoy that MC40!

Reason: amended
And you could out run a jcw kit with a 15% pulley fwiw
So true. If he want's that. If he was going for speed I'd make recommendations based on what I did for mine. (15% WMW SC, 2% Craven crank, DDM intake w/ Samco silicone hose and IC couplers, colder JCW plugs, upgraded coil and wires, H-Sport springs with new SS+ struts (B6 i think?), powerflex LCA front sway and rear trailing arm bushings, and 22MM Mania sway bar. Without a tune (JCW or otherwise) I shut down a few 'higher power' cars around here. With a tune obviously it would have been better but I was happy. Best upgrades: SC pulley, rear sway bar, DDM intake and then crank pulley... Those upgrades are what I had the most noticeable improvements with.
