Sunroof Rattle in Vent Position?

Hi all - has anyone else experienced a rattle in the sunroof when it's in the vent position? I've asked my dealer to help and all they did was put felt on the wind deflector(?).

If I open or close the roof just past the vent position, the rattle goes away. If I use the factory position for venting, the roof rattles. Can anyone confirm this problem? Did you get it fixed?

What year is your car. Early (02-03) had a rattle problem, which was fixed by the felt, later cars this was eliminated.

I have a creaking noise when I vent the roof, but that's only over bumps... I probably need to lube the tracks thought! My 04 MCS is a Sept 03 build....

My 05 sunroof makes weird creaking noise when in the vent position. Not quite a rattle.

Same here... hit a bump... get a rattle...

I know someone had a DIY grease job, but I don't know if that would fix the rattle.

My boyfriend has the same rattle when he has his sunroof open. They put the felt in (which did nothing) and then replaced the whole sunroof cassette. Stil rattles...

When I have mine closed and it starts to rattle, I jam my fingers between the glass and the bar there and apply pressure and the rattling stops! But then when I pull my fingers out.... It rattles again I think I'll get a little block of wood and cover it in some cloth/felt and wedge it in there when I get annoyed. Its grown on me now and I just ignore it!

GLMINI...My MINI is an 05, with a March build. I've had it to the dealer three times with no luck. They claim they don't hear it. I'm in there tomorrow for my first annual and I'm going to drive with one of the techs. Thanks.

Add me to the creaking noise club. Mostly on bumps. I definately wouldn't call it a rattle though. I figure it's the opening trying to compress slightly and pushing against the glass or something weird like that. It has only started recently, in the hotter weather though....

According to MINI of Mt. View, my
"Sunroof glass needed adjustment and lubrication on most of the pivot joints."
Rattles gone.

I posted a similar rattle here on NAM somewhere a few months back. My rattle only happens on cold mornings and when the sunroof is closed. On a hot day the rattle doesn't exist.

If I open it to the vent position, the rattle goes away. A little pressure near the control panel ahead of the sunroof frame makes it stop. I don't think it's the wind deflectors - I think it's all the different plastic components up above the buttons where they are screwed to the metal framing.

I had the whole sunroof frame down one day while driving around trying to pinpoint the rattle to no avail. There isn't much holding that frame up there.

Hrmm....I just bought a used 03' MCS and the sunroof had a rattle. The previous owner took it in to get fixed. They put the felt on it. I don't have any rattling, but when I press the button and it opens, for the first 1/2 sec....it makes a "urrrrrrrn" sound when opening. Once it get's past that 1/2 sec...it has no problems!

Weird ain't it? Could it be the tracks (no lube?)
