yeah so im speedin on the west side hwy and i get pulled over right at the 54th street (or is it 56th) exit. i pull off to the right and roll down my 12% tint window. i hand over my info....i have the usual "do you know how fast bla bla bla" exchange.
the cop tells me that i was 40mph over the limit, how illegal the tint is, and tells me to stay put. at this point he has the usual nyc rookie cop attitude. he's not being and d*** but, hes not to cool either.
he returns shortly, which is odd in itself, and asks me if my "s came with the steelies im runnin right now?".
i reply "no, i put them on cause ive been waitin for my new dynamics." which i purchased off of a nice gent from this site.
we then talk for about 10 minutes about how i plan to hook it up and mod ideas and autocross and what not.
he gives me a ticket for the tint for one window ONLY and instructs me to "enjoy the car". i still cant believe it.

its good to own a mini!!!! i would have never gotten away with it if i was in my subaru.

40 over on west side highway...80-90? You badass. I work in Manhattan over the summers, nothing is more fun than hauling down the west side highway.

 

bad ***? lol.

its hard to keep that car at 45mph. and besides everyone does 80-90 into that section of the city. its way too much fun...all that new concrete. that screamin noise from the tires. its the best.

This happened to me a couple of weeks ago, driving up US 101 in So Cal. The CHP officer stopped me for 89 in a 70. But he was so interested in the MINI, and asking questions about it, he let me off with a verbal warning!

 

wow, thats quite a story. I used to get hassled alot in my subie. Well, I guess it's handy to own an interesting car I guess, but he could've been one of those people who hate on MINI's. You got pretty lucky there!

 

Nice! I love driving the WSH... when the traffic isn't insane.
It used to be a really good ride when the towers were still standing. :-(

What about the "jump" around 79th street? I forgot about the one time I got pulled over in my last MCS. I was driving down one of the only really curvy stretches of road in my town, speed limit 40mph but corner speed limit signs as low as 5mph. I pretty much maintained 40mph down the entire road. Right before going around the last corner I see headlights far far in the distance and say haha that's the cop coming to get me. Sure enough by the time I rounded the corner he was on my ***, which meant he was going 80-90?! at least just to catch up. He asked me where my front plate was and told me to drive carefully.
