Cmon, lighten up ... the guy can't be that droll and be serious

Minis another MINI, and old mini, a Blue MINI

Think Sagan and "Billions and billions of stars!"

His clown car remarks were meant to be funny not malicious. He even called them cute.

And cmon, before YOU new anything about the new MINI would you say

"when I think speed, I think Mini Cooper"

His style might not sit well with all the "owners" but are you all his audience? Your all dishing a dude doing his job for his audience. You either get it or you don't.

 

To me, it seemed like he didn't want the assignement, and didn't do a good job. If he wanted to be funny, he should have had some more material. It wasn't his best work. For droll, it sucked, for sarcastic, it sucked, for informed, it sucked, for camera work, it sucked, for sound, it sucked, for pretty much anything, it sucked.
I actually thought he might just tell us the color of every car that we could see for our self!
This was lazy work of the first kind, and I myself, think there are a lot better ways to celebrate the 101st SAE conference than watching 101 minis drive by on a cold day....

I agree that this guy should not be reporting on MINIs if he really dislikes them THAT much. But I don't really think he is insulting MINIs or even those who buy MINIs. To give you some back ground on me, I am an 18 year boy going through highschool, and I can tell you I've heard a lot worse than that. I've had freshmen girls I've never talked to before ask me why I drive a MINI, or guys I am on sports teams with ask how any girl could ever take me serriously when I drive a MINI, etc, etc...

Truth be told, I think this guy is just bored. Not really against the MINI or you, but just wishing he was somewhere else. MINIs are adored by those who like them, however others don't know why we really do like them so much. And thats fine. I know I would be very bored if I was filming 101 Civics rolling past.

 

he wasn't being droll though, he was being pedantic. his material was bad and his delivery was worse. when john cleese chastised his mini and gave it a good thrashing in fawlty towers that was funny. observational comedy isn't just about describing what you're seeing which is all he did "oh there's a green one, a blue one, a grey one with stripes, a red one, another red one. wow there's more. oh they're coming from both directions now. look an old one. i could pick that one up and put it in the parking lot. hey that's a lexus".

 

that all the other mini drivers got to eat after the run. Look at the other thread on the subject....

The guys an idiot, that's all I'm going to say. He knew nothing about what he was reporting. I did have a good laugh, but not because he was funny...he will be getting an e-mail.

I wish more people thinks like he does, MINIs will be even more rarer-er!

It would have been funny if they had played "Baby Elephant Walk" in the background while he was narrating......

Go ahead and send him all sorts of irate e-mails - you will do nothing more than make his day, giving a wanna-be media ***** attention is never a good thing......

His next blog entry will be all about your angry comments ranging from threatening to inane - illustrating what he will interpret to be total lack of humor.

As for the casual reader of his blog, they will come away thinking that Mini owners can't take a joke (albeit an unfunny one). Since some of you apparently give a crap what a complete stranger thinks about our freaking cars, maybe you should think twice about giving him more ammo to use to appeal to a wider audience.

seriously... for the love of god... if you are going to cover something, at least do a bit of research (ooo, i bet that thing gets mad 250cc action)... i mean i just stay frozen for a minute after hearing that! i seriously didnt know whether to laugh or vomit.....

Took advantage of what? A good-intentioned Mini Rep? This is the first part of the thread I've actually laughed at. I need to congratulate him, he apparently found the only one.

The consensus of this thread is that he's an untalented hack....... so why would this piece of drivel even concern you? I've seen local access cable segments done better.

I really don't understand how anyone could be upset at this, it's not funny, it's not witty, at best it's a sad attempt to put together a Daily Show-esque little skit and even at that it comes off badly.

So he poked fun at our cars, whoop-de-doo. I can see being ticked if it was a particularly nasty joke, but it was so poorly put together that his little piece, as it stands, is nothing but a joke on him.

Go inspire a ton of nasty e-mails to him and see the joke turn on you.......it will do nothing but give him more ammo to poke fun at the Mini community - it will write his next Blog entry and give him another excuse to cover one of your gatherings.

Don't give legitimacy to his stupid little reporting piece by dignifying it with a response.

This is much ado over nothing... There are plenty of people who just don't get it when it comes to the MINI Community, and you know what.... I'm quite alright with it... The chest thumping and righteous indignation displayed won't change this guy's perceptions and regardless of what that guys says you still own your MINI, you still like your MINI so why is this bozo worth loosing any sleep over...

yeah...I guess you wisemen are right...the Mini's just another tool afterall and all this passion is giving me a heartburn...I'm going to chill and go visit some John Deer sites to get some perspective
