Sounds like your goal for the weekend just became 750 miles under the 1500 mile mark MINI will pay for the service under the warranty period, but don't make it highway has to be some twisties or suburban or city streets to make sure the counter goes down, it typically won't budge on highway trips. (almost word for word from an SA)

Just went to the basement to refresh my memory, S54 oil 10W 60, MCS 5W 30 or 40 max depending on ambient temps. MCS hardtop holds 4.8 w/filter change so a quart is over a 5th of the engine oil... I wouldn't do it, well unless I was desperate and in a very hot climate , but I suppose it'll be okay however certainly not optimal for the Mini engine - I'd change it out to the right stuff as soon as possible myself.
