5 stone chips. Two on one day. The glass seems fragile and the windscreen angle/car height make it prone to getting hit by road debris.

Does it matter if it's a chip or crack?

If not, I got a chip on the first day.

Count me in. It seems like I'm getting pelted with stones here in the beautiful New England region. Got a chip at lower driver's edge that is now a huge horizontal crack across the lower windshield. Think I'll wait for spring to replace it, and see how long I can avoid all the pitting from the sand they put on the roads up here.

Stress crack at 1500 miles. We're all rookies, though. Dave in Denver is the King of Windshield Cracks!

One stress crack, top middle of windshield starting at trim by rear view mirror. Started while parked in heated garage, all of 730 miles on car.

Paul, contact your insurance agent. Most insurance companies will repair a chip at no cost to you in order to prevent the window from cracking and needing to be replaced completely.

My State Farm agent sent someone out to take care of mine... they even came to my office and fixed it in our parking lot. No fuss, no muss.

Add my lower driver's side corner crack that began below the frame and spread across the entire windshield.

No impact, but Mini is claiming it is stone damage. I am fighting them over it.

Mully, this is frequently a free "preventative" service covered by your insurance company - you may want to call and see about it, rather than wait and have to deal with BIGGER issues down the line.

The glass repair service came to my house and fixed 3 chips within 20 minutes. No problems, and you can hardly see the repairs unless you knew where to look.

I got a big dime-sized rock chip with only about 1500 miles on the car. This was a couple of months ago, and it has stayed put so far. Mini2Go, thanks for the insurance info; I'll check that out.

With only 1k miles, I have a crack running up 2 or 3 inches and then over to the left another 4 or 5 inches - dead center at the bottom of the W/S

OK . . .

So I am on mile 1001 and cruising on the parkway, on the way to meet my girlfirend for some lunch. What the f@%k are the odds that I get hit with a rock that comes flying off the car next to me bounced off the bonnet and POW right onto my windshield. It doesn't appear to be anything major, but there are three tiny cracks from that damn rock. Hopefull it won't spread, but I will try to seal it.

what are the f@%king odds ? ??

signed.
pissed off and upset.
