Don't laugh
Seriously don't laugh, I posted a few week ago about ordering a new JCW, mind you I have driven an MCS but not the JCW. I currently have a MC CVT. Anyway I drove 5 hours today to buy my son a new Acura RSX S and Eastbay Mini is right across the Street. they had an 05 JCW so I asked if I could take it for a spin, OMG compared to my little Cooper it was so fast it scared me:eek2: , I am going to get in trouble:eek:. Now the wait is going to be twice as hard. By the way I drove the Acura and just to let you know the MCS JCW is much quicker:thumbsup:

Sounds like the difference when I went from my 04 MC CVT to my 05 MCSa with all the mods:cool:

I know what you mean. I have a reasonably modded MC 5 speed but had the opportunity to live with an MCS for a week while my car was in for service (clutch). After two days, I found myself specing out a new Mini (well, it would actually be an additional one - an MCS), as the power increase really is fantastic, especially out of the corners but by the end of the week, I came to the realization that it was probably a little too manic for day-to-day use. I know that sounds crazy, but I'm not sure I could afford the tickets. If I was looking for a fun weekend or track day car rather than a daily driver, it would be an MCS JCW without doubt.

Yep! I might just have to re-think this, cause that car is going to get me in big trouble.

Now I have to chime in..... I wanted a FUN car. I looked at the PT, the Prius, the Crossfire and the MC. Once I found the MCS, I was hooked. Then I discovered the JCW ....and I do live in the Santa Monica Mtns..... maybe you have heard of Mulholland hwy..... 2 miles from my house..... I drive 20 miles through the hills to Santa Monica....... had to have the JCW...FUN FUN FUN

I won't say anything about DiD's "superiority complexes"
You're damn right about how fun the faster cars are! You should probably get better brake pads to go with the new car if you're already this excited! |

I would have gotten a JCW, just to much at the time.

Well I've just started with the preformance mods and allowing my self to really travel near the redline, in the past week I've figured out that anything past third is for fuel econmy or the track. So I've felt a dramatic difference in power over the past week. Before that there have been times where in the coners I thought the power would be the end of me. The past months have truly been a matter of self control (made possible by the fact I keep promising myself track time now I just need to make it happen soon!).

as a matter of fact I have, I grew up in Reseda:thumbsup: |
I am now 6 days away from picking up my MCS JCW Cabrio and the thing I am most nervous about is that I may be over-doing it with the power and performance of this car. I've never owned a real performer - hey, my current car is a 1993 Ford Explorer four-door five-speed (a pretty rare beast with the stick). I checked out the stats on my Explorer - and observed that it has 25% less horsepower than my upcoming JCW, and a lot more weight. :eek2: I push my current car to the limit of its performance regularly - and if I do the same with the MINI, then I will really be in trouble....
It will be an interesting exercise in self-restraint. I have only ever had one speeding ticket (not for lack of trying) and that was a speed trap in Crested Butte, CO where the the limit went from 55 to 25 in a block... Bill |

Sandi congrads on your 06.Enjoy the car for what it could do,not what it can do.Phyllis and i are looking forward to see you at AMVIV.Q
|
 Sandie, you'll be fine with the JCW MCS! You will adjust really quickly to the increase in power. I went from a Cooper to my MCS and had NO problem adjusting!
How exciting to have only a few more weeks to wait until delivery.... |
If your son drives your new JCW MCS, watch that new Acura being traded in for a new MCS in no time!
|
sandie- why did you not buy yourself that demo JCW and give your son
your MC? that's what i would've done. my kid doesn't need a brand new car when he's a teen. if he wants a new car, he can buy it himself after getting a real job and finding a place of his own. :) |
