I have 2 boy's 10 & 11 years old. We had great fun building MINI's before I ordered mine. Then tracking it as it was built and shipped. Now they want Mom or me to take it wherever/whenever they are involved.

For a brief moment ... the 43 year old dad is cool... priceless.

I too have a young one, 16 mos. Since I wasn't able to get anwhere with a selection of car seats, I got the Junior seat from MINI (ISOFIX). Not only does the car seat fit so well it doesn't move at all. Also it is suprising easy to get her in and out of the car seat, much more so than her seat in the family station wagon. If we become four, I'll be getting the infant seat too. By the by, she LOVES the sun roof. It seems she also really loves the visability she has in the MINI. On another note, she also loves riding in our Classic.

1 daughter, 5 1/2. Our MCS is our primary mode of travel unless there is a lot of snow/ice on the road, or we need to pick up/haul something large (use a Durango for that). We drove to South Bend from Indianapolis (3 hours) for Christmas in "Alice" with myself, my wife, our daughter, Christmas presents and luggage for a 2 night visit with family. No problems whatsoever!

10 yr-old boy about 5 foot 4 and has to sit in the back seat most of the time. Also all of his height is in his legs. So he's probably a little cramped back there but he still absolutely loves it and always asks to "take the MINI!"

I agree...we have a 6-mo. old and a Honda Element (another VERY cool ride) that he goes in when we have to take the kitchen sink. As for safety, check out
Crash Test Results. The Mini gets a best overall pick at 40mph crash - then check out some of the SUVs out there in the same test. Just because you have a huge car doesn't mean it's safe - it's all in the engineering.

2 kids; Girl 6 and Boy 4 and they love the MINI. For long trips we take the wife's mini van, but it's a constant battle for the MINI keys.

Where do you get the MINI Car Seat? Ive never seen it anywhere..please post pics.

My seven year old daughter announced one morning in the garage as we were preparing to go to school that she couldn't wait untill she was 16. When I asked why, she promptly patted the side of our Mini and said "becuase I can't wait to drive this baby!". Plus when I pick her up from school she can see me coming from about two blocks away and announces to all her friends that its her car.

Count me among the 2 children Mini Owners who thinks the MINI is a great family car.
2.5 year old girl - rides with me daily to school, loves the MINI
10 month old boy - rides frequently... will be better in 2 months when he is facing forward
They both fit just fine and the boot is large enough if you learn to live with out so much junk.

In 2 months I'm getting two of these car seats to match my lapis blue leather...

and it uses the latch system which will make the kids even more secure.

2 daughters, 10 and 6. Regularly carry them both, both prefer the Mini over the wife's Dodge Caravan.

I have two children, ages 6 (boy) and 10 (girl). My son told EVERYONE at his elementary school about my silk green cooper including its many special handling features (he is a frequent attendee of historic races with his Dad) and my daughter, although initially disinterested, has just informed me after three weeks of MINI ownership, that the car will be hers in 6 years so I should start selecting my new colour.

Seriously though, the thought that the MINI is not you because you have kids is scary. I suppose that's why Hummers are box-shaped like caskets.

As I'm not quite ready for that - I'll be busy Motoring - with the sunroof open and the children laughing.

Just as an update - The wife managed to fit in the MINI:
- herself (of course)
- 1 purse
- 1 tote bag
- 2 bottles of water
- 2 14 year old boys
- 2 back packs
- 2 hockey bags
- 4 hockey sticks
and a saxopone

MINI's were meant for kids!

I have a 2 year old daughter who loves get rides in the car. She fits great in her forward facing seat (although she's able to kick the back of the front seat, which irritates my wife no end).

We have another on the way in a couple of months, and I believe once the second one arrives, we're pretty much going to live out the minivan (Toyota Sienna) and the MCS will just be for me to drive to/from work and take short trips with our daughter.

I found that our stroller even fits in the trunk - it's not a monster stroller, it's a medium sized one (much bigger than an umbrella stroller).

It's great to hear my daughter hold up both hands and yell "MINI COOPER!!!"

I've found that the limitations are really just the luggage space (or the lack of it), and the gyrations necessary to load/unload kids. It's also a pain to mount/unmount car seats, but that's true in any car.

3 cats ... they're better than children they don't complain nearly as much and are content eating the same stuff all day. Besides you don't have to pay for them to go to college.

I have a friend who sold his 2002 Thunderbird with 400 miles on it so that he could take his young children with him in a MCS. No room in the Bird for two kids. My kids are 25 and 27 and they both want my MCS. If they are lucky I'll will it to them! They'll have to fight between the 2002 and the 67 S.

My teenagers love this car and would not be seen dead in an SUV. Too dated, not cool! As for minivans, not even a topic!

Peng - I had to check in here just to see how your wife did. I would have loved to see a pic of the saxaphone going in last! That's great!

Two kids - daughter is 10, son is 7. Don't have the Mini yet (April, April, I think I'll name her April). I can remember when I was 10, and couldn't stand to be seen with my parents. Walk ahead, walk behind, totally ignore them, anything. My daughter is starting to pick up some of those habits also. But now, she says she is going to get up A HALF-HOUR EARLY each day so I can take her to school and her buddies can see her get out of the new car. Keep in mind also, that my current car is a Lexus GS400 - but she would rather not be seen in that with her father.
