Just curious what the market value is like right now...

2005 Cooper S, 15,000 miles, (1 accident but no major damage, hood replaced by the dealer), Sports Package, Sunroof, Premium sound.

KBB says 21,500 for trade ins. Is that realistic?

not sure that you'll get a reasonable price for your car from anyone around here... you should answer CutnThrust's question in your other thread first

but if the car was in perfect and good running order, i'd say the 24-25k range... but not sure that's the case here.

That's on a car that has had no fender benders or body repair work. Accident damage does have a negative impact on your resale value as the hood was replaced and likely repainted. Factory finish is nearly impossible to replicate and any well trained used car appraiser will detect it.

I say more realistically between $18.5K and $19.5K. Was there any frame damage?

well miles aren't really. the car is about 1 year and 3 months old. Just hit 15k Miles. averageing almost 1k a month which isnt bad. mostly highway miles. if I get 19-20k that seems reasonable. I'm definately throwing in the towel though with this car.. sometimes you just have too much bad luck with a car. I'm going for a trade in. ;(

Why don't you try to sell it yourself?

Sorry to hear about your problems. It seems you got a bad apple. I have owned 3 and all of them have been rock solid reliable. My '05 MCS has not had an unscheduled dealer visit since I got it nearly 11 months ago.

Why don't you trade/sell it and get a new MCS?

Try Carmax... They usually give pretty good rates (they DO not count mods tho) and you might get more from them then you would a tradein... good luck and sad to hear youre giving up on MINI

Actually with accident damage Carmax will low ball you. I went to them for a quote on my last car and their offer was a joke because it had been in a minor accident. No frame damage or anything major. I sold it privately to a coworker and I think we both got a good deal. You should definitely at least try and sell it yourself, just be honest if anyone asks you about accidents.

Carmax actually has lots of MINI's listed for sale here in the DC area and nationwide. I have seen a number listed in the paper and on other make's lots as well. So they are definitely out there if anyone is looking for a used one and you should have a basis for comparison. You can also check the Edmunds website for what the cars are going for in your area based on your car's condition, mileage, etc. It will give you typical trade values, private sale, and car dealer retail.

It is worth it to sell yourself as an 05 MCS acctually apperciated according to KBB When I ran mine w/ more miles in less time. Then you're in a better position when purchasing a new car.

I noticed you have a few performance mods on your car. An un-modded car will always command more $$ than a modded car either on a sale or a trade-in/up. Considering the repaired body damage and the mods I'd say $18K to $19K is about right here. JB
