How can a MINI require new brake pads (and rotors!) at just 25K miles? Must have a HEAVY braking foot! I've got 43K miles and according to the dealer, the pads are still a few milimeters within spec... and those aren't highway miles, they are back-and-forth to work (5 miles each way) and lots of stop-and-go trips in between and on weekends. The low brake pad warning light has yet to illuminate... I would assume the dealer would not replace the pads for free under warranty until the light illuminates...since they are such hard-asses about these things.

Anyway, I guess I'm just bent out of shape because I have to pay for new pads, rotors, and installation just for the fact that I drive like a granny, (apparently) as my original pads just don't want to wear out!!! Either that or my MINI was fitted was some sorta extra-thick pads at the factory :-)

Rock on,

02 MCS, 44k, brake pads OK; didn't need to replace tires until 40k

had brakes checked on Miata last year cuz the pads had 50k on them ... store said OK. They started to squeal a little when backing up so I pulled them a couple of weeks ago. Pads were at least 3/4 as thick as new Mazda pads. I guess some people drive a lot harder than I do...
