New JCW MINI S to be 88 lbs lighter, mostly due to no air conditioning.....
According to the Feb. 06 Road and Track mag, the new Mini Cooper with John Cooper Works GP kit, or MCJCWGPK for short, also has aluminum rear control arms to save weight. Air conditioning will be optional. It's said to have 218 hp and 180 ft/lb of torque. Also standard is a big ugly rear wing. The only color will be gray-blue metallic with silver roof. The outside rear view mirrors are red and the big interior change is Recardo sport seats.
The picture looks like Dark Silver to me, with, as I said, red mirrors and, IMO, an ugly rear wing.
My first impression is I'd rather have a bare-bones MCS and 10,000 or so bucks left over.
About 2,000 will be built with an unspecified allocation for the U.S..
