That's what MINI Coopers are all about...

A cute story to share with people who can relate:

I just got my MINI three days ago, and my 9-year-old son has been every bit as excited as me about the whole ordering/waiting/anticipation process. He is thrilled with our new car and very proud of her!

This morning, his litle girlfriend from the neighborhood came over for a ride, and I overheard their conversation as we were getting ready. She wanted to know where we were going and he replied, "It doesn't matter. And we won't know until we get there. That's what MINI Coopers are all about. It's called MOTORING."

He gets it!

Wow, thanks for all your replies--I feel like part of the family now!

He really is an amazing kid and we really have an amazing car. And of course he can't wait to drive!

Does he know that you called his friend who happens to be a girl a "girlfriend"? He might not be too happy about that, although, he understands motoring at a young age...

Actually..........he is really onto something.

The other day I was listening to NPR's Car Talk and the guys were discussing road rage, specifically the fact that there was so much of it here in the U.S. and so little of it, say, in Italy. Someone had emailed in a possible explanation: in the U.S., we tend to drive to get somewhere, and if anybody gets in our way it really pisses us off. But in Italy, the proposal went, they really aren't all about "getting somewhere" they tend to just enjoy the trip, regardless of when (or if) they arrive at their final destination. The brothers were aghast! "That's it!!," they proclaimed. "This could be the answer to world peace!!!"

So if they are right (not saying they are 100% of the time:wink:), then your little son has figured out a means of addressing a very great issue indeed. Good job!!

Ciao!

So true.:)

However ... Thats also why the Roman Empire fell ... They were so busy partying on the way to the forum ... they forgot about the Barbarians invading from the north!

Actually, he does refer to this little dear one as his "Girlfriend." They have been very affectionate toward one another since he was in the second grade and she in the first--for two years! He's not a bit embarrased about it. It does make me a bit concerned about what the adolescent years will bring...

The other thing I've been considering related to this is the idea of being fully present while you're driving. So many people are eating, talking on the phone, applying lipstick, etc., while driving down the highway in heavy traffic at 60 MPH. Part of what I love about the MINI experience is that I am so into the process of driving, I pay it my full attention. When I'm motoring, I'm motoring. Not thinking about the destination or being late or whatever. Granted, I've not had my car for a week yet so it may change. But I hope not!

I've had my MINI for a wee 9 months... it hasn't changed

That's an adorable story. I have a 10 year old brother that brags to all of his friend's about my MINI, and how much fun it is. I've even taken one of his girl friends out... i love making a kid happy

No you're right, that pretty much describes it. I've had my Cooper almost three years...motoring is indeed very engaging.
