After the third time to have the Engine Service light extinguished, the dealer stated that it shouldn't happen again. They received and installed new software to eliminate the recurring problem with the mid to late manufactured 2005 Mini Cooper S. It had nothing to do with the gas cap or catalytic converter. It was a software diagnostic issue.
