R50/53 GAS PRICES!!!
Has anyone else experienced monster jumps in the price of gas. Here in NY, it went from 1.79 up to 1.86 per gallon. My MCS gets decent millage but 18 bucks to fill your tank kinda suxs. On the othewr hand, I hope this makes SUV owners realize the practicality of smaller cars. My neighbor (has a Expedition) said it cost him almost 50 dollars to fill his truck.
$18 to fill your tank..i wish..try paying .79 cents / litre in canada...that adds up to like $35 per tank...
just to let ya know...there is always worse..
and the bugger about this one..is i live in alberta....where there is more oil and gas
than all of Saudi.....go figure...

Does anyone think the gas increase is specuation on what could happen in the mid-east? I know the price of high test is $1.89 here in upstate NY... (But, I've had my mini in the garage all winter so I could keep the salt off....) it's killing me to have it just sit in the garage, but in the long run I know it will be well worth it.

Well, if driving on inexpensive gas is important to you, then my guess is that you should get the MINI out of the garage and do some driving now...I think that prices are only going to get worse into the spring and summer. The pending war is a big factor (especially if it actually happens and Saddam destroys the oil fields like he's promised to) but there's also the strike in Venezuela and the normal seasonal increase in prices. Put them all together and you get what we've got.
My gut feeling is that premium will be around $3 before we see any relief.

Premium all the way, your MINI will thank you, plus you'll more than likely get better gas mileage over 87 or 89... though I'd stay away from the real "high test" racing gas, that'd get you in some trouble

Cost of gas.... we dont need no stinking cost of gas....!!
it just suxs having to stop for gas every 2 1/2 weeks to fill up!! but I guess that is the penality for screaming up and down the roads "on the whistle" just to hear the sound and see the look from the other drivers.....

Can someone please work this out in US gallons: I pay 80p per litre of petrol. I would be interested to see how much more I pay for fuel compare to you lot, then you won't feel like moaning. I know its roughly double.
Ok, ok. If like me you cannot be bothered to work it out then know this. On average I spend about £40.00 to fill up my Cooper S. That is approx' $65.00 I think. Still feel mad about the amount you spend on gas? Do you lot stateside pay road tax and car tax as well?? Our insurance premiums are higher too.

Well, surely I'm not the only one here that owns a SUV (an Expedition) and will (soon) own a MCS? It certainly will be nice to begin filling up the MCS most of the time instead of the Expy, but, I'm not getting the MCS because it's a practical car! Sure, I could get a minivan to hold our family of five on trips together, but, a minivan won't pull our boat - and neither will a MINI. So, give me a break when you are trying to justify your Cooper S because it is practical and just be like me - a guy that is looking forward to blasting around in my new MCS and also get decent gas mileage. Everybody has their own situations that determines the types of vehicles that sit in their driveways!
I hope I haven't too much upset the ones on this thread who believe SUV owners are the scourge of society!

It's $1.68 for Regular out by my house, and $1.78 for Premium. Went up 11 cents last week. But, I just filled up my MC with Premium for $1.48/gal, which is still probably more expensive than the next county over, probably about $1.45 for premium. Don't know how long that will ast though..
