my oxymoron is that I own an MCS and a GMC Envoy! I could prbly fit the MCS inside the Envoy. At least the Enjoy can take 87 octane.

Still haven't needed to fill up the MCS since I bought it, but 13.1 gallons of 91 octane is not bad, even here in Los Angeles you can still get 91 for under $2 a gallon

Hiya, sambusik!

We have an ancient '88 Isuzu Trooper and a '91 Corvette! The Trooper is a 4-cyl., but the 'Vette gets much better mileage, like 20-26 mpg! Now, in the MINI, I'm averaging 29-35 mpg!! YEAH!

I live in Sherman Oaks but work in Century City, so I know the cheap gas stations in West LA

I'm curious how the credit works for those prices? Who exactly is the creditor?

Even at $2.00 per gallon for regular, gasoline in the US is still a bargain.

On the whole SUV thing... Yes some people need a larger vehicle for hauling stuff big families ect.... I myself may buy one one day to pull a race car and trailer (not a SUV but a pick up of some sort) .... I have no problem with people who buy SUV's for good reason... BUT lets face it that is not the norm... Here in Atlanta GA (snow what snow) I see countless 4WD SUV's on the road and at the school I work at I see SUV after SUV drop off and pick up their ONE kid day after day.... (yes its a private school).... While a SUV may be good for an IKEA trip so would a Volvo wagon or a Saab hatch (what I used for my Ikea Trip (2 chairs, 2 coffee tables, nesting end tables, 2 lamps, and Misc accessories) not bad for a car!!!! No offence to the Jimmy driver..... the dresser you got would of been tight in a Saab I am sure...

So to those of you out there in MINI land who do need a SUV for towing or just plain need lots of room I commend you for making a good choice... those who NEVER use the capabilities of their SUV.... shame on you for giving some obviously cool SUV Drivers a bad rap.....

Boyracer is right- I have just spent a year abroad in britain and fuel prices there are ludicrous! it costs about $70 to fill a tank of gas in a Golf in edinburgh! thank god i was living in the city and very rarely rented a car to drive about... we really have nothing to complain about (especially considering that scotland is surrounded by a wall of oil rigs). thankfully, I'll have my MINI by the summer when the prices here really go up!

interesting, i hate the metric system. maybe this will help.
multiply a u.s. gallons by 0.8327 to obtain imperial gallons.
If you convert your mini to steam power,1 ton of coal is equivlent
to 2 cords of wood. 1cubic foot of bituminous coal weighs 47-50 lbs.
1 horsepower is equivalent to raising 33,000 lbs 1 foot a minute,or550
lbs 1 foot per second...
eh,let's stick with gas ...

It's all from the government there and the level of government that the people demand. The reason gas prices are high in Europe is due to high taxes. In the US, by the time all the import taxes and everything are added in, we're paying about half the cost of our gasoline in tax. In Europe it's 3/4 or more of the cost of the gasoline goes to the government.

If those people would quit asking for guaranteed employment, 30 hour work weeks, 30 days per year vacation, excessive social security, ongoing welfare and such, gas there would be cheap as well.

Every once in a while I need an SUV--so, with all the cash I save on gas

I drive a 2002 Chevy 2500HD pickup truck with an 8.1 liter motor that gets between 10 and 12 miles to the gallon when I’m not towing anything and my wife drives a 2001 BMW X5 4.4 that gets between 14 and 18 miles to the gallon. Both my wife and I drive approximately 20,000+ miles a year and if gas went to $5.00 a gallon it wouldn’t change our driving habits one little bit. We have to drive 55 miles round trip just to go to the closet supermarket. I did not order a MCS for the gas mileage but because they are fun to drive on twisty mountain roads. Gas is still a bargain at two bucks a gallon!
