I picked up Norbert yesterday. It rained all day yesterday but it handles so well in the rain. I was suprised at how well it did. I may get a chance to open the sunroof today.

I saw your car in the back of the lot when I picked mine up. Mine's already dirty due to some exploring and rain after that. The cruise has started working.

All of a sudden there are 3 more MINIs on small town streets (not including mine). Reports are from non-MINI owners so model unknown but they are PW/PW, BRG/W w/stripes and Blu/?

My face is aching, I'm not used to smiling so much...

How did delivery go?

I've been posting on the Can't wait for June club but it now looks like my cooper will be here in May! The website has an estimated delivery date of May 23! Anyone else have their car on the Carmen? Hopefully all goes well!

Howdy,

Well, I'm happy to say that I'm a proud new papa. I picked up my Chili Red/White MCS on Saturday afternoon. Like others, I had rain the entire trip. It was still fun, but I was dying to pop the top and open the windows.

Going up the interstate, I practiced double-clutching from 5th to 4th and back again until I could do it smoothly. I was a bit rusty on the stick, but it all came back. Now, I have to train my wife, who has never driven a manual transmission. Anyone want to loan me their MINI for training?

I had a real good sales experience with Century MINI down in Greenville, SC. Linda was my MA, and she was a pleasure to work with. Easy going, pleasant, just sign the papers and drive. I had to keep going back and forth to my car for my wife to sign papers. She was watching our two-year-old, who was asleep in the back.

My bank and BMW got into a scuffle over the financing. You gotta love it when that happens. When all was said and done, my rate dropped about 1 percent from what I was originally quoted.

Late last night, I took the car up Cramer Mountain. I was dying to see what it would do, and it performed incredibly well, considering new tires on wet pavement, it still felt like it was on rails.

Today, we celebrated Fisher's birthday with all his friends. He turned 5 around the first of May. He really enjoyed driving up in the MINI. Some of the parents accused me of having a mid-life crisis. Yeah, yeah, it's true.

I do have one rattle that is driving me nuts that I will take care of pronto. It's near the airbag, and it sounds like styrofoam squeaking together. Nothing major and an easy fix. I'll likely do it myself. One odd thing I found on the dash, though, was a couple of spots of what look like white paint. I've managed to get most of it up just with a damp cloth and my fingernail, but I thought that was weird.

I'm still debating the name for my MINI. It will either be Ace or Baron (as in The Red Baron). I'm getting stripes on it, soon, and on the rally light covers, I'm putting the cross from the Fokker DR-1 (plane) that the Red Baron flew. Here is a quick Photoshop mockup.

I'll get pics of my real car posted if it ever stops raining here in NC. Oh yeah, installed the S2000 antenna, and the organizers from Rspeed. Love 'em.

See ya,
JS

SB,
Great choice on color combinations. I waxed mine this weekend and the metallic green just seemed to deepen. Enjoy! I am.

First chance to see my MINI today...it won't be ready until Thursday, but I took my prospective trade-in over to the dealer to get an offer, and I got to sit in and otherwise fondle my new baby!

I was pretty stoked:

The dealer (MINI of St. Louis) had a huge assortment of MINIs on hand, and Tony Jones, my MA, said that 90%+ were already sold...go MINI!

I thought this was a cool lineup:

Black Knight - it looks awesome. I picked up my MCS on Friday evening and had 200 miles on it by Sunday morning. If it hadn't been raining the entire weekend I would have done more. I love this car. I'll post pics after I wash the car (from the rain) and find the camera.

Was on the Tosca and after seeing many of my shipmates getting their wheels, I called my dealer. He said they just got a shipment of 8 cars in, but, alas, mine was not one of them. He said it was still at the port in Jersey. What gives? Wouldn't this mean it hasn't even made it to the distribution center? (MINI USA lists me as at distribution center.) I took off Wednesday and Thursday (always off Fridays) with the hopes that I will have it by then. Dealer told me it should still be coming in this week, but says there's no way of knowing. Thought I heard others saying their dealer could tell them when their truck left and would be expected in. Am I getting the cold shoulder - why can't my dealer know these things (he says they can't). I'm growing sick with impatience - even had to take a drive by my dealer to soak them in until mine arrives. With the long holiday weekend approaching and family coming in from out of town, I have my fingers crossed (any good vibes sent my way would be appreciated!) that it won't be too much longer..... like TOMORROW!!! I feel like a whining brat, but I want it NOW (said complete with stomping of feet!)

All pics posted of new arrivals look SWEEEET. Congrats and have fun to all of you!

Good Luck, hope you have it in time to show off for the holidays! But watch out, everyone will want to ride or drive. You could end up with 1000 miles by the end of the 3 days

Nice looking Mini Blacknight. I'm a little behind in updating the CWFMC site as I can't seem to stop driving the Mini any chance I can.

Same deal, once it landed I couldn't get a straight answer. SB helped me - our dealer has an inventory website. I found my car by VIN and called the MA, he didn't even know it was there. This was 11am or so. I picked it up at 4pm the same day! Our MA even helped detail it to make sure it was ready.

Deak - Yes, I remember seeing that post about inventory for your dealer. Do all dealers have this info available on the web? If so, how do I find out? Dealer doesn't seem to be of big help. I remember I even tried to substitute your dealer's city for mine (in web address) and nothing came up for me. It was discharged from the ship in the USA 17 days ago. Hope it remembered to take it's Dramamine and isn't spewing oil as a result.

I guess this last part of the wait IS the hardest - probably because there are no more "steps" to watch for. Estimated date of delivery was 5/12 on MINI USA and there's just nowhere else to go for guidance on whereabouts!!

Try the dealer's website and see if they have an inventory link. Might try 866-ask-mini. I called one night and got information that the car was moving from the dock to the distribution center. Called during the day, 4 days later, and was told they don't know where it is once it leaves England. The after hours guys may be more willing to help. Mine had an edd of 5/12, it changed to 5/17 on 5/15 (guessing that's the day it shipped from the distribution center).
GOOD LUCK -

I'll definitely watch for you, that would be great to see a near-twin on the road. I've been amused by the re-appearance of the phenomenon that causes you to notice all of the other examples of the car you just bought. Since I ordered my MINI i've watched for others like a hawk. Though you obviously see far fewer of them than, say a Dodge Neon or something. Since I gave up my long-held dream of buying a New Beetle to order the MINI, I've also paid attention to the ratio of that car on the road to MINIs...clearly WAY more Beetles out there. I'm sure I made the right choice.

Enjoy your stay in St. Louis...will you be here at the time of the Italian Job opening (5/29)? I'm sure someone in the local club could arrange for you to attend with us local folks... Message Redbird73 here (or post in the midwest forum) to see who could hook you up...

Nummytime, good motoring vibes coming your way. My dealer was able to tell me when my car was released from the distribution center to the trucking company. Once it hit the trucking company all they could do was estimate what day it might arrive. For me it only took 2 days (New York to Richmond). I think you are getting the run around. It doesn't make any sense that my MA had access to that kind of info and yours doesn't. On the other hand, from other posts and from my dealership, they seem to be getting about a truck load a day, so it may just be that they are swamped trying to keep up with tracking all the cars. I guess it depends on how aggressive your MA is. Mine emailed me the moment the car was unloaded from the truck.

I thought I'd be able to get it this afternoon, but it looks like it's going to be tomorrow. Apparently, the luggage rack had to come from California, and it took longer than expectred. I'm taking tomorrow off work anyway, so that actually works out okay...it's just so hard to wait!

We had already planned a family camping trip for this weekend...I think I'm going to have to take the MINI with me...there's no way I can have it for less than 24 hours and then go off an leave it for 3 days. Luckily, we're camping in a fairly-civilized State Park (MO) and I don't think it will be overly-hazardous to the car. Might even be some fun twisties down there!

Oh, the agony...

Jingu Maru folks...getting your cars?

Still waiting..... my two days off have come to a close and no word yet. Feeling very sad and then excited when I see messages on the machine and then sad again when none of them are my dealer. MINIUSA still has me listed as est delivery date of 5/12. Dealer sounds like "Don't call us, we'll call you." Just blowing off sorrow/steam.... NUMMYTIME

Hey Nummy, I picked up my mini yesterday. The MA said it had been held up for awhile in Jersey; so he knew what was going on. It's been at the dealer for almost a week, but I couldn't take the time for the three hour ride to get it.

This is the nicest car I've ever owned. It's a pleasure to drive. The only bad part is that you can't see how cute it is when you're inside!

Nummytime hopefully it will be very soon. I've looked all over for any type of inventory from International auto but I don't see anything. It is that dealership right?

Here is my first inexpensive mod. The screen is actually black but the flash lightened it up a lot. I found this mod in the Interior and exterior mods forum. From the pic it looks like saturdays wash and wax can't come soon enough.

SB - Awful nice of you to see if you could get anywhere or find any information on my dealer's site (yes, it is International Autos) - I sure do appreciate the effort!

Bird - That's great you got your MINI (I think it was wise you ordered through Patrick! - I just wish you would have brought me with you!!!!) Hope you're having fun and just in time for the weekend. Now all we need are some warmer temps!! Enjoy yourself and be safe
