Hey everyone, I just got my MINI last weekend and I thought I'd share a bit with you all. First of all, thanks for making the wait bearable all these months...reading about everyone's cars and wish lists and everything made it fun.

I purchased my MINI from Salt Lake City. I live in Seattle so the plan was to fly down, pick her up and drive her home. If you remember (don't really expect you to), my first one got smashed at the vehicle distribution center. That first one was Indy Blue with the alloy patina trim. This second one is electric blue with the anthracite. First comment - thank god the first one got smashed!!!! I LOVE this new color and trim way better!!!

Here's me at the dealer with my new baby:

Greetings Picoman
Great photos, thanks for sharing. Beautiful photo along the Pacific Coast. We too picked up our MINI over the weekend in West Palm Beach. My wife and I took a scenic trip up Indian River Drive from Jensen Beach to Fort Pierce and back.It was the most beautiful day of the year - to date.
We wish you the Best Motoring!
Kind Regards,
Ron

I'll be picking up my MCS from Mini of Murray in late April. It's currently on order for a MArch build. How long did the drive from Salt Lake City to SF take you. Taht is the drive home I'll be doing as well.

By the way, how do you like the black with anthracite? That's the interior combo I'm getting too. Wondering if they're too dark together...how do you like it now that you've spent some time in the car?

Wow! This is starting to start like some kind of salmon run. I am also picking up my Mini from Mini of Murray the first week of March, then driving to San Jose, and then up the coast to Seattle.

I drove to Reno and then Reno to S.F. the next morning. My schedule was such that I didn't want to get to my dad's house to late so I stopped in Reno.

Ok, so Salt Lake to Reno was pretty quick...I left Salt Lake at about 1:30 and got into Reno around 7:00. From Reno to S.F. was a bit over 3 hours I believe. I was averaging around 80 or 85 (like I said I would drop down to 70 then back up to 90) or so for almost all of it (even close to S.F. where everyone drove 80).

The anthracite and black is the coolest look I've seen. It's so ... er ... smooth looking. It's classy and clean. I was afraid that it might be too dark, but there is so much room up front and all the windows and sunroof light it up so it's just perfect. Clearly it's totally a personal taste issue, but I am so happy that I didn't get the alloy patina which would have changed the whole look.

It's interesting to compare my friends cooper to my S. Her's is indy blue and she has white wheels. With the lighter trim, her car looks real fun and playful. She puts daisies on it and that adds to that. Mine, on the other hand, has a more serious playful look...know what I mean? With that interior, it's like a mellow serious look. Hard to describe. I can try taking picutres, but that probably still won't convey the look...

Looks good Pico! Where were you in Oregon for that shot you now use in your signature?

To answer that question about where in Oregon I was...hmm...it was just a cool spot in southern Oregon before the highway veers away from the coast. There was just a big ol' turnout area and it looked like a good spot.

Part of the fun of the drive is spotting good photo opportunities and zipping over for the shot. If you do the drive, bring a camera and don't be shy about hanging a U turn to go back for that shot.

There was one shot that I totally regret not getting. There is a beautiful lighthouse on a cliff on the north part of a cove. While driving up to it, you have a wide open view. The only 2 turnouts had cars in them so I couldn't stop. I should have waited and got that shot with the lighthouse in the distance...oh well.

Looks like it could be around Gold Beach/Bandon maybe...or was it further up the coast?

Looks like Bandon. Face Rock in the background, just a bad angle to see the face looking up.

I'm making a pack with myself right now: One of these days I will live near roads like that. Pinellas County, FL sucks for motoring.
