The worst place to live and drive a mini

OK we all know that any day in a mini is a great day but where is the worst place to live with one.

I bring this up cuz I live in south Florida and every road here is very, very straight. There are no mountains, no hills. The best I can hope for is an onramp without an SUV in front of me. Florida sucks for this reason.

So where do you think the worst place to own a mini is?

I say FLORIDA!

I vote for UK's Channel Islands. While there are some hills and curves, the speed limit is a maximum of 35 mph. I know a guy who ruined a Ferrari engine on the isle of Jersey because he never got out of 1st gear.

The only places i can think of are just traffic related suckage-ness.

(I think Bumpass is perfect for a MINI there are now 4 of us!)

I do believe that you do in fact win the prize if you live in florida as the worst place for the MINI

topographically Florida is indeed the flattest state in the union with an low of sea level and the highest point in the state 345ft above......

On the other hand Atlanta is great....almost no straight roads anywhere. The mountains including the Dragon are close by.....In fact the cyclist have to come to my street to get a 2 1/2 mile flat road to do wnd training. I do think that FLA has Michigan beat

I'd say 5 in Bumpass on the weekends, as I'm down at the lake most summer weekends. Had some fun on 601 just last weekend.

As far as worst place, let's see, 4 mile morning commute, 20-30 minutes each time, some of the most selfish drivers around, stop light every 50 yards, I'd say Northern VA is getting there.

If you don't like Florida, please leave... We already have too many people here

Yes the traffic and drivers suck big time here in Miami and I also agree that becuase of our topography, we don't have interesting roads or mountains. But I tell you what, if you get out of South Florida, there are very nice "hidden" twisty/scenic roads in Central and North Florida that make up for awesome MINI driving.

Now if you want mountain driving, you have to get out of the state and probably get adjusted to live with the "thrills" of winter.

The highest point in Florida is "Bok Tower and Gardens" a beautiful sanctuary located some 40 miles South West of Orlando.

Florida is so much more than the Everglades and Disney World.

Florida scenic drives:

Also Ninjamini, ever been to St. Augustine? There are some gorgeous drives to do upthere. Take A1A and drive alongside beautiful Pontevedra Beach and visit serene Guana River State Park.

People in South Florida have NO IDEA of how gorgeous the north side of this state is.

Not here!!! This place is great for a mini. Mountain roads, curves twists, long straights when you want them. We got it all.

Sorry, I'll go now.......................

I dunno....

The Indy Metro area is flat. Yes there is a nice twisty road, but you can only run on it once a year [and only one lap! ] and that is if you have tickets from the F1 event. (The FIA did not run a race in 2005, they had an event but no race!) Occasionally outside the circle (I 465 bypass for the rest of you) you may find an occasional S curve around a barn or wetland area but those are about as difficult to find as a 2005 MINI right now! Go South and it gets better but the majority of Indiana is about as flat as a MINI's roof! As for curves, most of Indiana reminds me of the Checkboard on a MINI's roof.

I just checked out the Targa Newfoundland videos, and that place while very beautiful (I assume) has some really wild roads??. The yellow car in the last leg (on the side of the road), must have also thought that FLA would be a better place at that time.

Just for fund check out the website.

St Aug is a pretty town. But I do not want to slow down to look. I was talking about driving. I love Florida and hate winters....that dont mean that I have to like the lay of the land. Fla has a lot to offer...a cool place to drive aint one of them.

Ya know this takes me to another point that mabey I should make another thread. With flat lands and every mountain to climb being at Disney world (Space, slash, thunder...) why-o-why does anyone drive a SUV down here??? Some of them are even 4WD. Ok if you live up north and have a steep road to climb...but in fla...and I don't want anyone to tell me thay have 2.3 kids and a dog! It aint to put groceries in.

Hey I know when my little one was a baby and in diapers the trunk is the perfect height to act as a changing table (for you non moms and dads that to take off the poop diaper and put on a clean one).

Now guys if the scenery is factored in Then KANSAS is the absolute worst place to drive a MINI. Which I believe is true anyway. Not only is it nearly as flat as florida or any other flat state it is devoid of ANYTHING remotely intresting to look at, unless you count the worlds largest ball of twine. Furthermore, Nearly all roads are laid out in a grid accross the state except for interstates, thanks the the total lack of landforms preventing straight level roads.........I WIN....Sometimes I do wonder why I bought a MINI living in Kansas but then I drive home and get a big smile and think this cars is even fun in a straight line

I'd have to agree. I spent my collage years down there. Just terrible sports car roads. Now it is even worse because of all the traffic congestion.

I feel sorry for ya, ninjamini.

Maybe you should plan your vacations to some place with curves.

I vote for Indianapolis as the worst place. When I was there a couple months back the roads were the worst I had seen anywhere. That coupled with no interesting roads or scenery nearby.

Granted Florida has straight roads but no snow and good roads.
