2006 MiniS Color Combination Opinions wanted please

Well it looks like I missed out on ordering a 2005 MiniS in jet black. My original color combo was:

Jet Black
White roof and mirrors
White bonnett stripes.

Given the colors in 2006 dont include jet black (a disapointment -) ) I am debating the following 2 color combos that basically is a toss up between the new Space Blue and the Astro black:

1) Space Blue, silver roof, silver mirrors, new style bonnett stripes. S lite wheels.

2) Astro Black metallic, silver roof, silver mirrors, new style bonnett stripes, S lite wheels

While I am sad that the jet black is no longer offerred I am kind of excited about the silver roofs and the new bonnett stripes! Any thoughts on the colors??? If things come together here job wise in a couple of weeks/months I might be well on my way to ordering a new 06!

I went onto the MINIUSA website and built a Space Blue/Silver in both the Checkmate and non-Checkmate versions, tried different combos and interiors, but I have to say:

Of all the '06 colors, the Space Blue/Silver rocks my boat the most!!! Woohoo, what a combo.

I especially like it with the piped leather seats. Suh-weet. . .

My friend Alan (Scavenger here on NAM) has placed an order for the exact combo above (SB/S MCS). It looks awesome, I can't wait until it arrives!

The best thing a MINIac can do for a friend is convince them to get a MINI too. I'm doing my part.

Black and silver will look SHARP

I do love Space Blue (toyed with getting it) I put my order in as Jet black, but missed the '05 que and had to go for astro black. I am a bit dissapointed - though the AB does look really good. Though Astro Black with the new silver stripes and a silver roof I think will look really SHARP!

I really would like to see the space blue in person to determine if I like it or not, because the MiniUSA pics really do not judge the pics. I have a HB, the color is so different than what it shows on the site.

I find it interesting that interior options that were once freebies cost big bucks now: the colored dash, anth HL, etc. I built my exact 05 cooper S on the 06 build spec and it costs nearly$1,400 more, almost $2K if I factor in an LSD and rear fog. And that's w/o much of a base MSRP price hike! Yow. Jimbo

PS and only 2 non-met colors for the S? Talk about limited choice; too bad they didnt come up with a non-met BRG.

Yeah... But even in 2005 I was shocked that the base MC had much better color options than the S.

My wife is ordering the new Royal Grey with silver roof, mirrors, and new bonnet stripes. In person, the royal grey is a sweet color. We liked the space blue but we already have an 05 HyperBlue Cabrio so we did not want another blue car.

I really wouldn't consider it a downgrade.

Not to start any (more) battling over this point, moving from an MCS to an MC is, in fact, a downgrade in both price and power. There's no getting around that - the numbers bear it out.

I don't consider it a downgrade in build quality, 'smile-factor,' or driving enjoyment, but the fact of the matter is, the MCS costs more and has more power. In most people's books, that's an upgrade from the 'regular' car. . .

Sad but true.

Me, I'd take either an MC or an MCS over an SUV any day. . .it's all good.

I'm going '02 MCS to '06 MC myself. SR/S with the 15" holies. Your spec sounds good too. I have kicked around the idea of picking up the aero kit, but I'll probably hold off on that for a while.

Has anyone noticed that the color pallete being filled with more grey colors (and slightly colored greys) than anything. I mean in 2006 for an S the colors are Astro Black (really dark grey), Pepper White (debatable but it looks mostly white which is really light grey), Pure Silver (medium grey), Dark Silver (medium-dark grey), Royal Grey (dark-medium grey), and Space Blue (blue-grey). What happened to great eye poping colors like liquid yellow, Electric Blue, and so on and so forth?! Did the color choice guy get depressed this year?

Don't get me wrong, all these colors look fantastic. I just wish they would expand their pallete a little more.

BTW: My choice for color is probably going to be HB/S...so I side with the SB/S color choice.

I imagine a lot of us have noticed. What I'd like to know is whether the MINI gods noticed the poll (was it here at NAM?) that showed Electric Blue & White as the second favorite color combo? Admittedly, I don't know much about selling cars, but in my business, it's not considered a textbook practice to cut off clients' favorite choices...

My only advice would be to find more pics of Space Blue before ordering it (or go to the dealer and see it in person, of course). The one posts in this thread is quite different from other pics I've seen.

Search for 2006 colors here on NAM, or check out motoringfile.com

I think SB/S would like really nice.
