R50/53 Jupiter Diamond Through the Canal

After reading the Hercules Leader thread,which listed the Panama Canal Live Cam website, I checked it out and emailed them to ask when the Jupiter Diamond was due. I got home tonight, checked my email, and had a reply that she was due to go through the Miraflores Locks @ 8:00 PM (Panama time) It's now 9:30 PM there, so unless the boat has been held up, she's on the Pacific leg of her trip 
The carrier is due @ Port Hueneme on the 30th. Does anyone know about how long it takes these ships to get from Panama to Central Calif.? Here's hoping that it's way ahead of schedule, and that we all get our MINI's a week earlier than we planned

So glad to see the Panama Canal Cam is being put to good use. For those of you on the left coast, your wait is so much longer than those on the right. You deserve to have this extra bit of excitement to help you through the wait. :smile:

I told my son in Miami about about the site and he saw the Jupiter Diamond go through the locks. He is 16 and thought it was pretty cool.
I also got am email from the IT guys at the Miraflores Locks and they think it is pretty cool that we are asking them about the ships. They said to email them anytime with qustions. They think that us tracking the ships that is carry our MINI's is exciting and cool for them also. They do not get very many e-mails and it is mostly to ask them to point the camera in a different direction......
