You KNOW you want it...

VIDEO surveillance, for your car: http://www.obsusa.com/store/product.php?productid=8

I do at least. I'd have skipped the premium package for this little gem - was thinking about making something like it today, then this pops up on Engadget! I'm not sure how it'd mount, but I'd seriously consider it if I had the expendable income.

Yes, it's on my company network. You have to have a java plugin to see it, but most people have already have it.

I've never tried it with a MAC. Do you have IE on it? I know Firefox and IE work.

I tried both - Safari asked me for a password, the other two did not. I'm going to try it on a PC over here...

What browser? There is a five minute timeout.

I removed the timeout so it should work now.

Nice! Firefox on Safari works well.

I *really* want to get a webcam for home, but one that connects to ethernet (perhaps even POE).

I'm using a trial version of some software that I am testing for some clients. I don't care for the interface, but they have a new version coming out that I will try next. This is on a test server that I use to test different hardware and software.

This is a standard video camera attached to a video capture board and some cheap software. Total outlay of about $300.00. I have some very expensive systems installed at my clients. POE and quality IP cameras can really add to the expense of systems, but it sure is fun to play with the technology if someone else is paying.

I'd be paying, so it's kind of out of the question. BUT, I will be installing a webcam soon, and will be doing something on the order of 3 cameras, one central server, and then ftp space to upload the image.

This hardware/software solution is one that works very well. Many options so you can tailor the size to fit your application. The built-in webserver works perfectly. The systems are sold by dozens of suppliers. Uses standard video cameras, though.
