What's more FUN?!
Off-ramps or on-ramps???????
Gosh the MINI kicks arse on both, but I think I'll have to give the edge to off ramps. To me, they highlight handling, not acceleration, which is the bread and butter of our cars. Simple enough discussion, tell us which you like better and why. mb |
I love on-ramps. A good place to legally use the acceleration you have. Nothing better than gassing it coming up the ramp and making a nifty merge!:thumbsup:

I like on-ramps. I do mostly around-town driving and my daily commute has tons of twisties, so on-ramps are one of the few places I can push my Cooper...and it never fails to disappoint.

My on-ramp from work is my testing-ground for mods. It's a sharp right, a slightly longer left, and a sweeping right again.
When I bought the MINI, I felt like I was out of control taking the second turn at 40. Now, I can take the first turn at 42(ish), the left at 50, and the sweep approaching 60. I'm not approaching the limits of the car, but what my seats and body can control. I need harnesses... So, to answer your question: on-ramps. |
on-ramps, definetely shows you what your mini is capable of.

man, this thread is borderline threshold for GreatBear...
I like on-ramps... I do my sus setup tests on my car and buddy's cars on this one off-ramp where it starts with a bump and sudden off-camber, followed by nasty humps and dips, then finishes off with a banked corner. basically benchmarked at 50mph on my MCS with no effort. |
Off ramps at max legal speed plus maybe 15 to 20 mph faster, depending on the ramp in question:thumbsup:
|
Both:grin:
 |
Well, I expect to have to stop or at least slow a lot at the end of an off-ramp, I get annoyed at having to slow down at the end of the on-ramp, so I'm going to go with off-ramps.

Not to sound negative, but this really isn't a valid topic. Every on-ramp and off-ramp is different across the country. Some are straight, some loop, some have inclines, some have potholes, some are short and some are long. So there's no way to come to a conclusion which are better. :sly:
On-ramps in Pee Dee, South Carolina may be better than on-ramps in the mountains of West Virginia. There's just no way to honestly compare them unless you look at SPECIFIC ramps. |
I like both myself, depending on the situation. On ramps are fun to wring through the gears and have a nice tasty merge into traffic and disallowing anyone the opportunity to block my merge. Off ramps are fun as a way to scrub off speed not using the brakes, and decreasing radius offramps being kinda common around here it's like a skidpad test. The offramps gain bonus features when there happens to be someone riding my tail on the way.
DISCLAIMER: Professional driver on closed course. Do not attempt these maneuvers. :sly:  :sly:   |
Clover leafs, over, and over, and over, and over, and over. . .
Well you get the point. Great place to practice heel/toe. But only when traffic is light. |
Off ramps - I'm finally getting off the boooooring interstate and getting on the twisty road home.
