If you were in a Black Mini Cooper and rear ended on Highway 134 on 7/11/05 at 6:45pm, I was directly behind the POS white car who hit you.

PM me if you need a witness!

Just out of curiosity, why didn't you stop at the accident scene? Your testimony would hold more weight if you had talked to an officer at the scene...

Ah - didn't know that. Around here, if the damage is more than minor, you get in trouble if you don't stop right there.

I don't think it's a good idea to stop for anything on a highway in California unless you are stopped by the police or in an accident yourself and even if you are in an accident I would be leary of geting out of the car unless the police are there, isn't that why God created the mobile phone

LOL.

It was one of those typical afternoon rush-hour traffic, you know the kind that goes from 80mph-zero in nothing flat, hence all the accidents I see while visiting down in Socal (I'm from Norcal). In fact while the two cars scuttled across 3 lanes to the rightside emergency lane they almost got hit again!

In my experience, the CHP (California Highway Patrol) will not file an accident report if it's not a major accident, which this wasn't (rear bumper looked scraped up but no metal damage).

During my business trip down here I've seen more accidents in one week than I do in Norcal all year.

Funny how things vary by region. If I was in an accident and two days later a witness for the other driver appeared out of nowhere I'd be very suspicious of the witness. That's why I thought it would be better to stay there at the scene until a cop took your statement.

How can you later prove you were driving by and saw the accident? Anyone could say that, days later. Seems odd to me.

In CA, some cities won't send a cop out unless there are injuries, major damage or you're causing a traffic jam. Then it's your word against theirs and the insurance company has to decide who's at fault. It's always good to have a witness.

Good to know. If I'm ever in an accident in CA, I'll make sure to call a buddy after the fact to be my "witness". Who can prove he didn't see it happen?

Other than providing my contact information, the address of the temporary corporate housing where I'm staying at, the address of the studio I'm working in and that the accident occured during prime commute time between those two points... I guess they can call me a fraud if they disregard any of that information.
