I used to think LY was insipid. Even though a gifted friend with exquisite taste in all other things got one I could not stand that washed out look. But two weeks ago an LY/B w/bonnet stripes roared past as I was waiting interminably for a bus and it looked glorious in the spring sunshine. From then on I decided that every color looks both good and bad on a MINI depending on lighting, cleanliness of car, and whether it is coming or going. I admit to not having seen a gold color MINI yet.

Prince Charles on a bad day.

I agree, LY rocks. I didn't have the guts to pick it for myself, but I love the color.

Hyper Blue just became available in the Cooper beginning 1/2005 production. EB Coopers are sold in Europe but I am not sure these are imported into Canada and Mexico as well. Go to www.mini.com and then select the corresponding country MINI home website and see if you can configure one.

I never understood why MINIUSA wanted to keep the EB out of the US spec Cooper. May be not too upset current MCS EB owners and their "exclusive" color?

By the way, I have definitely seen two distinct electric blue non-S Coopers in Boston. I guess they're either imported, or else people are painting them. Can you get EB in Canada or Mexico on a Cooper?

I always thought that chili red and indi blue were the two colors that would most definitely stick around. I don't agree much with the direction MINI is going.

yep they are availiable in canada, i see them almost everywhere in toronto!

i'd be interested in space blue... makes the 06 even more intesting.. mini is seriously tempting me to trade my 03 for an 06 with the special sparco seats!

Space Blue - darker than IB, kind of a midnight blue????

Solar Red - a little more orange that CR??

Royal Grey - grey with a hint of blue?

I had the exact same thought as jds. The pics of the hot orange that were posted is HOT!!!!!

I have yet to see an ugly Mini or MINI, no matter what the color. And I think I've seen each color in person except the silk green...

That would be my guess, too. It could work with the MINI, might be a nice retro color.

Agreed. I'm sure they have some sort of focus-group feedback behind their reasoning, but I think a PW/B convertible would be beautiful.

Since they are calling it "gray" and not "silver" my guess is that it won't be metallic.

Here's a pic of a model TT, but the color is right.

Hmmmmm, I think someone needs to photoshop a MCS picture and plaster the Gray color from the Audi TT on it. I am not sure how it will work with the shape of the MINI.

if i knw bmw, they'd recycle colors from their bin anyways

anyone have a clue what does dark silver equates to in the bmw lineup? i'd think royal grey would be like a very dark grey, something like sparkling graphite metallic on the new 330i

id think space blue would be something like mystic blue metallic, something very dark, almost indi blue

I like LY. To me it looks way more classy than the "in your face" sort of mustard yellow on many other cars.

I bought CR/W but my second choice would be LY/W.

I've seen LY on enough MINIs to really, really like it. For the same reason, I also like the controversial Solid Gold. I'd have to admit, when it comes to MINIs I'm a bit of a pushover.

This worries me cause i was thinking of getting a EB MCS but now they are taking it away. Now i dont know whether to see what Space Blue looks like or just to get EB. Also i got to figure out when the latest i can get EB is cause if i want it i need to get in before the cut off time. Anyone know when they will switch over?

Do you have a MA yet? (Motoring Adviser)...

I said to someone on MINI2 who also was torn between an 05EB or an 06 Space Blue (not knowing yet what Space Blue is) that they should place an order NOW for one of the very last 05's and then bump the order to an 06 if they find they really dig Space Blue. A good MA can handle that no problem... but don't wait very long!!

I'm sure Motoringfile.com and the Oxford guys on MINI2 will have sneek pics of the new colors pretty soon..

Contrary to what most might think, it bothers me not one little bit that they will drop Jet Black! I will be quite pleased to have one of the rare-ish colors! Besides, black matches most of my wardrobe!

And like dtlman, I too might have chosen Cosmos Black if it had been offered for the MCS.

Yes i have a MA but i realized he doesnt seem as knowledgable as some of the other MAs at the dealership. He had never even heard of Motoringfile or that the colors were being discontinued. In alot of ways i know more about it than he does but i guess thats because i have been researching for 6 mths. And he doesnt seem to keep up with MINI websites like the other MAs there do. But i would feel bad changing MAs cause i have been talking to this guy since Nov. and he was the first person i talked to.

I agree with others who wish they offered a real BRG. Any available offering of retro colors, imo, is good.

The colors I don't tend to like for Minis are like those seen on Camry's and other more conventional cars. Retro or flash
