i've got a 2002 mcs with an august build date and factory cd player.
anybody having difficulty playing cd-r cd's??
its anybody's wish to put together their favorite songs on a cdr and play them in his/her car, but everytime i do this, the cdr skips like crazy. it'll still play the song, but not without skipping about 20 times throughout the song.
if you put in a regular official cd bought at the store, i get no skips. i won't say 100%, but 99% of the time, it doesn't skip. all of this said while driving on a very smooth road or even idling in a parking lot and using quality cdr's!!

do the cd players in mini's handle cdr's differently?
anybody else having this problem? :???:

Hi
I don't know about Mini CD players as I'm not getting mine till tomorrow. BUt I have found CDr's tend to skip in both my previous Golf GTI and my partner's Rover 200.
I think it's CDr's.

I've never had any problems with CD-R's in any of my stereo equipment (Fosgate deck in my last car, the CD player in my MINI, computers or home). I think that the key to making good CD's that don't skip is to start with quality CD's blanks (I only use Memorex discs for data and audio) and use a good program. I have had problems with Roxio in the past for audio and data discs, so I don't use it (or the stuff built into windows XP). For data, I only use Nero and for audio I use MusicMatch Jukebox Plus. I don't think that I have made a coaster with either program, and I've had less than 1% failure with the Memorex CD's.

Just my .02

I have a couple CDR's that skip in my stock stereo.....but they skip in other people's cars as well....

I've never had any additional problems, even when I am motoring on a rough road. Compared to other cars I have had, the stock MINI stereo is very good in my opinion (and I don't have an HK)....

I never had any problems in my Clarion 6 disc changer in my old Jetta, but I think that it has something to do with the speed at which the CD's are burned (4X, 12X, etc.), the quality of the CD, and the quality of the file itself. CD's that I burn at work on high quality CDs are obviously better, as opposed to a 4X burner with some crap CDs.
My $0.02
