I suggested to my husband yesterday morning that we go to the Auto Show. It was the last day, and we had gone no where together since the baby came 51/2 months ago.
Grandma had the baby from the night before, so we impose on her, and ask her to watch him for the day. With plans made and baby happy we are off to the Auto Show.
The lines were extreme, but it was worth the wait. As you must all know my primary mission is to find the MINI booth. With the map in hand we locate the MINI booth which is on the lower level we unfortunately are on the upper level. I did not pay eight dollars just to see MINIs, so we objectively look at other cars.

In my humble opinion (as a married woman) Toyota had the best looking women talking about their cars. "Forget the Camary honey can I take a picture of her"

The new Lincoln Aviator was also a fine looking ute. Features coming out of everywhere. Was I impressed... I think not.

Again I am no fan of Ford. I know everyone has their opinions there. However, the Ford Thunderbird is a beautiful car in the right color. Shame the one on the turntable was a salmon color...ick.

Finally, I could take no more, and we made our way to the lower level in search of MINI. Before I get there I ask myself what is wrong with you? You have one at home. Alas MINI fever has bit me and from the looks of it a lot of people will have bite marks also.

We take one last look at the map and head in the general direction of the MINI booth. By passing the Benz, Volvo and Audi displays without a second glance we make our way in true Dr. Livingtson fashion in search of MINIs.
I fianlly make out in the distance the yellow trim and the familiar font. I eagerly shout "I see it" damned if my husband could keep up with me. I stop. It was if I had arrived at utopia, but everyone knew about it already but me.

A very interactive display compared to the other booths. You are greeted by three steering wheels that allow you to change the car colors. Your choice off solid, white or black top. On the other side of this display is a moving plasma screen monitor showing the internal saftey features of the MINI.

Le piece(s) de resistance are the MINIs. The crowd (no exaggeration) is amazing. I was eavesdropping, and I heard only one negative comment about the car while I was there. If I remember correctly there were two MCSs(yellow and Dk Silver)and three MCs (Silver, Red and Indi Blue). The Indi Blue was trimmed out with aftermarket parts one word ..sweet.

As fast as one person got out of the driver or passenger seat another was quickly replacing them. There were no color or racial barriers within the crowd. This was a crowd pleaser hands down. I could not resist I returned after visiting Jaugar. Did I need to say goodbye? I believe that MINI had the biggest crowd. So large was the crowd there was no way to take a clear shot of the MINI without people in it or around it. Second to the MINI was the Hummer2. Odd how we graviate to the insanely large or the insanely small.

Well, with chamoises in hand, and a head and heart full of MINIs we decided to leave to pick up A.J. and to go home to Chilly *****. The trrip was worth every dollar.

BTW Chilly got tinted windows New Year's Eve. Once more I can motor without feeling like a gold fish. Well back to work and Happy New Year to all.

Any word about the John Cooper Works 'S' upgrade? Word is that they are supposed to announce info at the auto shows. Someone also told me that soon you'd be able to order an 'S' with the upgrade package already.

Sorry Greatgro,

No word on the upgrade. It almost seemed that the main focus is still just to put the MINI name out there.

I went on Tuesday and I agree with you about the MINI booth. For being one of the smallest companies it had a large gathering and a lot of interactivity. I like the way they had the MINI vending machines and you had to ask for a coin to get the motoring manual. I got extra coins to keep. They also had the sticker sheets. I was set to buy a hat but they were not selling them at the show. We sat and watched the ads, it was nice that they included the video of John Cooper talking about the MINI/mini. Of course we had to wait and watch the bobby commercial twice.
On the whole I was dissipointed with the show. No real exotics and too few concept cars. I liked the look of the ****** II
