If you have any doubt, just look in the front of your owner's manual. Your owner does have a manual, right?

48 months/50K mi = warrenty

36/36k mi = dealer service

Many confuse the two. Warrenty fixes what broke, service replaces some items that ware out or need changing.

All 2002-2005 MINIs have the following coverage:

4 years/50,000 miles (Whichever comes first)
3 years/36,000 miles covered scheduled maintenance (Whichever comes first).

Now here is the difference between the 2002-2003 and 2004-2005 body corrosion warranties:

2002-2003: 6 years/Unlimited mileage corrosion warranty

2004-2005: 12 years/Unlimited mileage corrosion warranty.

Hope this helps it clarify it for you.

Also take at look at the warranty booklet that came with your car's documents and Owner's Manual leather case.

Thanks, One thing that had me confused was a thread by, I think, DreamWeaver, about his MINI's clutch going out. Several different warranty periods were mentioned, none of which were 48mos/50,000 miles.

Also, you can extend the maintainance warranty from 3/36,000 to 4/50,000. I suppose this gets you another oil change? Didn't MINI make the 4/50,000 coverage standard in 04?

Hello, yes you can extend the scheduled service maintenance (Not the warranty) for another year. Typically dealers charge around $420 for the yearly maintenance that includes several items aside from the oil/filter change. I think the 45K mile service interval is the most comprehensive and requires several things looked at and/or replaced.

The scheduled maintenance coverage for new 2005 MINIs is still 3 years/36K miles, whichever comes first (Same for 2004 model year).

If you want to have full 4 year/50K mile scheduled mainetance coverage right off the bat, then you have to buy a new BMW .

2002-2003 MINI owners also had the CD-ROM included in their owner's manual.
I must confess, I've had my MINI over 2 years now, and my CD-ROM still has the shrink wrap

Nah, we've just been waiting for you to remind us.

Actually, I started this thread because it was obvious in several other threads that confusion existed about the warranty. Some of the post sounded like the dealer was taking advantage of this confusion.

What cd? Never saw one with my car.

I keep the manuel and sales docs in a environmentally controled vault for safe keeping. Now if I could just remember the combo....
