I'm in Alberta Canada the nearest Mini dealer is 5 hours drive. We do have a couple of local BMW dealers in town, anyone got experience in using a regular BMW dealer to service their Mini ?

I had a BMW dealer do an oil change..I supplied
the filter. Beyond that I think you'd be out of luck.
There is roadside assistance if you breakdown so
the tow would be on Mini for the first 4 years...
Welcome to MCOL....

Happy Holidays! I live in Northern California and the service department for my MINI Dealer is the BMW service department. They say the technicians are specially trained to service the MINI, I HOPE SO! I hope this helps.

Cool. Welcome to MCO! I drove my MINI through lethbridge, Calgary, Red Deer, Edmonton, Edson, Jasper, and Banff back in August. Lots and lots of fun.

Unfortunately as you point out the nearest dealer is over in Vancouver. I think I would follow 2minis advice. Call a MINI dealer in Canada, ask for the parts department and get them to ship you out some oil filters. Then take that and some sythetic oil to a BMW dealer. Maybe also see if the dealership in Vancouver has a number for MINI Canada. I'd talk to them to see if they might reimburse you for the oil change (is regular maintenene covered in Canada?).

Can't speak for Canada, but I live in Florida. I have a BMW dealer less than a mile away from me and they say no. Has to be a MINI dealer to get serviced. Nearest MINI dealer to me is 300 miles.

What I was told is some BMW dealers are also MINI dealers - some aren't! So you have to go to the MINI dealer for your MINI service work! However, like mentioned on other posts, you can have your oil and filter changed by any garage. I am just like sndwave - many BMW dealers in my area but the MINI dealers are miles away. My dream is for one of our local BMW dealers to start being a MINI dealer! - I know, dream on!
