Who's the tallest MINI driver?

i was at the dealership the other day and one of the MAs told me about a guy who was 6' 10" who fit in the MINI just fine. Seat lowered all the way down and all the way back. i'm a measly 6'0... ok, 5' 11.5"

over 6'0" and driving a MINI? reply to this post!

danbanger Apr 7, 2005 10:03 PM

I'm not sure about the tallest MINI driver but I've seen a picture of Dirk Nowitzki in a MINI and he seemed just fine. (7'0" NBA Player)

EDIT: okay I found the pics: http://www.mini2.com/news/news251.html

Okay.. I lied about saying he seemed just fine but he does say that he was suprised that even he could fit inside of it.

I'm 6'4", but I'm sure there are plenty taller.

Plenty of leg-room, but the steering wheel could be closer.

Fits tall men AND women...

I am a 6'1" woman and I fit fine - seat back and down. The long monkey-arms make the steering wheel distance a bit less of a concern.

My husband is 6'5", and needs less leg room (he has a 34" inseam, I have a 36" inseam). He, like most men, is tall in the torso, so headroom is usually more of an issue for him, legroom is a big issue for me. Luckily, MINI fits us both well. Not that I let him drive, but he sure looks pretty in the passenger seat. Obviously, the rear seat is for show only with us.

Long Tall Sally...I mean, Carol

I've had my 6'10" co-worker as a passenger in my car. He claims he fits just fine. I, on the other hand, am real uncomfortable driving someone who has less than 1" of headroom!

6'6" w/ no issues and the seat isn't even all the way back.

I'm 6'8" (hence the screen name jimz68) and I have no problems at all. I get many comments when people see me get out of my MINI.

Gromit801 Jan 30, 2008 11:00 AM

6'7" here. Only thing I wish I could do, is place my feet squarely on the pedals, and not kind of "oblique."

I am 6'-3" with long legs and shorter arms and also wish the wheel was closer.

MiniStupidfun Jan 30, 2008 12:55 PM

mistro Jan 30, 2008 12:57 PM

I'm 6'7" no issues with the top up or dowm... I did get the chrono package because with just a tach the steering wheel cut of the top of the tach... but no problems fitting. And I'd very much like to meet Divamac...

I wonder where TooTall from Rochester is? I always love seeing the self-portrait in his gallery:

Holy $h!t! That's a nice lawn.

6'5", second to last notch in the seat fore/aft adjustment, and answered the inevitable "how do you fit in that thing?" question approx 200 times. I wish the rear view mirror was smaller, it is dangerous big for tall people.

naffets Jan 30, 2008 01:42 PM

I'm 6'4", my buddy is 6'5" and my wife is 5'7".

The 3 of us all fit...although I'll let you figure out who got the back seat.

bonmot Jan 30, 2008 02:03 PM

6'5" here. I've got the seat all the way back. Legroom is OK, but I have to straddle the wheel with my legs. This causes the side cushions on the bottom to dig into my thighs (these are the standard leatherette seats). Anyone else among the long legged have this problem?

I'm thinking of seeing if an auto upholstery place can change the density of the foam under these side cushions on the seat bottom to something more squishable.

nabeshin Jan 30, 2008 04:54 PM

I'm 6'4" 160lbs and very lanky. No fitment issues. My only complaint is the rear view mirror blocking a large swath of my view at intersections. More than once a car has come from behind it.

I had the side cushion digging issues also, decided to remove the seat cushion and found a metal bar inside the foam, dug it out with an exacto knife as it's a one piece item molded in there and voila no more pain, and 9 months later the seat has still held it's perfect shape without it. Sorry I don't have much of a write up on this but it's fairly straight foward getting the Leatherette cover off.

Found an old PM that has a little more detail I sent a guy and from this he was able to do it:
Anyway my pain in the side of my legs was getting almost intolerable as I have a sciatic muscle problem, what you are feeling is a metal bar. I removed the seat, then removed the sliders, the seat material has a few plastic clips that need to be removed, but don't remove the whole fabric just the sides so you can access the foam pad, this will enable you to lift off the whole seat cushion away from the seat frame and meshing. Here's the scary part, feel from underneath for the bars make an incision with an exacto knife and pull on the bar keep making incisions along the bars path and pulling. It's shaped like a rear sway bar that runs accross the front of the seat and the end have loops to form the bolster, once it is removed I pushed back in some dense foam and then duc taped the bottom and put it all back in reverse order. The shape stayed perfect and I have no more pain!!!!!

BTW 6'3" and isn't all the way back. :)

Bang110 Jan 30, 2008 05:39 PM

I'm 6'7 and I can even have the seat further back making it too far. People always ask how I fit.

22CooperS Jan 30, 2008 05:43 PM

6'1"... not nearly the tallest driver, but still... this proves that another tall person can drive a MINI.

Some Guy Jan 30, 2008 08:27 PM

6'2" and I fit with room to spare, just wish the wheel was an inch or two closer.

BMBULBE Jan 30, 2008 08:50 PM

Too tall from Rochester could be me, but alas he's not. My car's (no surprise) yellow/black. I'm a perfect fit, I might add, at only 6'5." Can't wait to fire it up for any reason.

cpayne Jan 30, 2008 08:54 PM

5'6 I fit great! ;)
