Pebbles to the Windshield - Ding!
 

I guess there is no way to prevent these little road projectiles from striking your windshield - the Mini is pretty low to the ground for starters. Fortunately my ding to the windshield is tiny and not in the line of sight (middle of windshield) but it still aggravates me. I have only had the car a few weeks. (it's too small to even bother filling in).

Deal with it huh? The owner ain't perfect so why should the car be right? Anyway, I expect the little ding will have plenty of company after a while.
In the meantime is there a cure for pebble fever?:sad:

A six pack of any brand should help for now. :lol: :lol: :lol:

best i can say is get used to them, unless you never drive on the higway or over 20mph you will end up with a ton of them over time. I think it has alot to do with how straight up and down the windshield is positioned. I have just over 2000 miles and I have a bunch of them already. I do tend to drive a little fast though :-)

I feel your pain. I only had mine a few days when a rock came off of a concrete truck ( I was on my way to have a clear bra installed). Luckily it was small , also to small to even repair. Since then I have a few more and for a month old vehicle the windshield doesn't look it. The way I handle it is to keep it in the proper perspective i.e. it could have been worse. Motor on :thumbsup: l

Soft Windshields?
 

My MCS is coming up on a year and although I have no pits in the windsheild it certainly has become a well sanded windshield - lots of micro scratches that show up in the sun. I suspect that when Mini had problems with windows cracking they changed to a somewhat more flexible glass and hence maybe softer and easier to scratch.

This is pure speculation and I don't know if its logical. It does seems though that I have about 3 years wear on my one year old windshield.

My mother's Passat windshield, also made by Securit, has stood up much better but has also been replaced once due to chipping. Its curious.:roll:

Coming up on 45K miles,40K highway,in 20 months of motoring,lots of chips,no cracks.Don't look a the windscreen,look down the road,that's more fun:wink::razz:

what about this product that what's their name is peddling within the vendors announcement? I am 3 mo into ownership and 1 fixed ding and 1 fixed 3 inch crack, all compliments of 18 wheelers

Not just the big rigs,those 4x4 1/2 tons can really kick up lots of stuff:mad:
I think they should all have low wide mud flaps.And if they don't like it, then they should drive an echo:wink:

ive had my MC for a week now, and the windshield already cracked.... the stone chipped the glass and about 3 seconds after i heard it, the windshield spidered...stupid german ****, i'm getting a PPG windshield and having istalled somewhere BESIDES the mini dealer, they need to add a new clause for POS windshields into the warranty info!!!!!!! :mad:

I was leaving the dealer with my new MC,and on the highway,going to work I got a rock hit,chipped the windscreen right in front of the rearview.My dealer filled that one for free:thumbsup:
21 months and 43K miles later,I still have the original windscreen,it is peppered with rock/gravel hits.Is only is a problem when driving right into a low sun.

Two weeks old, and 600 miles. Got a rock hit, and a small spider crack on the windshield. It's pretty low, and not in the normal line of sight. This is my first chip in 20 years of driving.

How do the chips look after being fixed?
