Actually, since you have a 2007 Cabrio, it is an R52, even though the rest of the body style is based on the R53. Confusing, isn't it?

The R57 will not be out till the 2009 models come out.
The R52 MINI Cooper S is the Supercharged convertible with an R53 body as compared to
the R57 will be Turbocharged with a R56 body.

Yup, should be sometime next winter/spring IIRC. For some strange reason, BMW always releases the cabrio variant one or two years after the release of the coupe.

Plates will be WHOOOSH or LV2MTR. Almost went with WEE ONE but decided to highlight the MINI's zippiness instead of her/his most obvious cuteness.

R53 = 02-06 Cooper S and all years of convertible Cooper S
R55 = Clubman (I think)
etc... you get the idea

Actually, all of the convertibles (both Cooper and 'S') have their own designation - R52.

I have UNKN on my R53...
Told them at the license office it meant "University of Northern Kentucky" but in essence I wanted it as a potential defence in court for anticipated tickets.....ask the officer my plate and he says "unknown" when referring to his notes.....
Hope I don't have to use it.

Which sounds like a neat idea until you start getting parking tickets in the mail (along with failure-to-appear warrants for speeding tickets and other infractions) because all of the tickets in the state written to cars with "no tag" on them start getting assigned to *your* car.
