Hi. I was planning on ordering a '03 S sometime this upcoming week, and I was wondering how many months it would take to have the car built/shipped? I want a S with every option. I was also wondering what the chances of me buying the car at MSRP was? Is there anything special I should tell the salesperson when they put the order in for the car? Thanks!

Hello 2003S,

Welcome to the MCO!

From the time of placing the order to the time it'll get shipped is about 1 to 1.5 months. The time from shipment from England to your pickup at the dealership varies, but I'm guessing about 1 to 1.5 months. So total time from placing an order to picking it up is from 60-90 days. Since I just placed my order on 12/4, my production date is mid January. Then I might get it the latter part of Feb or the first part of March. I can't wait!

Most dealer's have wait lists and the months waiting on MCS list just double or tripled with the news of lesser numbers of MCS being released to order in the USA. I waited on a list for nearly 7 months (it was the middle of May when I got on the list) before I got to place my order. You may have better luck calling every dealer in the US to see if they have one on their showroom floor that closely matches what you'd like to order.

I got on a list in Early October, with an expected order date in December. I was just given the sad news that my order date is pushed back to May! The good news is they charged a reasonable ($500 fully refundable) deposit and it will be at MSRP.

I'm hoping to find an MSRP dealer with a shorter list, or in stock and comperable to what I want. (IB/W MCS 1,2,3, White wheels, no leather, no nav, will substitute CR, BRG for IB)

Good luck in your hunt!

Waiting is the hardest part.

Last summer I put the $500 down and was waiting for the HK system avaliable 9/1. At that time there were 85 on the wait list. The HK got bumped to 12/1, but actually got a tracking # at Thanksgiving. My Mini will be born next week! I was told that it should be able to be picked up in 4-6 weeks. During this time I was offered one quite similiar by the dealer, but chose to wait. Waiting is the hardest part..... Call around. Good luck!

You may want to check Mini of Charleston, S.C. Was there yesterday, the have an Indigo Blue, Prem (but w/o sunroof), sport, white top, white wheels + 6 CD changer. Nice looking MCS. No markup on the car. Call Dana and she can fill you in if interested.
